After a long day of traveling, we were so happy to stumble upon this gem. They sat the three of us immediately. Service was fantastic. Food was fabulous. Grateful for menus in English. Two starters, three entrees, and a glass of wine came to €74. We're hoping to visit again before we leave Vienna.

After turning us down because it was too busy, the hostess kindly took our reservation for the next day. The next day, she immediatly recognized us and showed us to our table. We had as a starter the foi gras with chestnutpuree and brioche. This was amazing! Our main courses were zwiebelen mit rostbrat (baked unions) and fried liver. These... More

We struggled to get here 3 years ago, but this time took the U4 from Swedenplatz and struggled only briefly with our map ap when we left Pilgrimstrasse. We arrived only a few minutes late, and were warmly greeted by the owner, and were given the same table we had on our last visit. For aperitifs, the owner suggested an... More

Excellent service, athmosphere and food. Classic viennese dishes served in a cosy furnitured living room like restaurant. We enjoyed a great evening.

The restaurant is a very cozy and quirk space. It has a homie feeling and you feel comfortable. The food is good, well presented and good portions. They are not very adventurous on flavours, but nonetheless the food is still tasty and comforting. So if you are after a proper good, homelike meal, this is your place.

This unassuming family run resto deserves your business if you are looking for impeccable blending of spices and quality foods. We had the calves liver and pork chops. The servings are pretty large, an added bonus. Oh and gents if you want relive baths of yore, this resto has a gent's Pissoir. Not that rare in Vienna it seems. This... More

It is a small, elegant, and authentic neibourhood restaurant near the hotel we stayed in Vienna. We went there at noon and had crispy fried chicken and beef tartar. It was one of the best experience I had in Vienna.

Excellent food, friendly and efficient service, good value for money. The dining room was full, and no tourists! It felt like a genuine local experience. Nice wine recommendation (and inexpensive). Will go back for sure.

Small neighborhood restaurant. Owners are the staff and they are very friendly. The local wine and local dishes were delicious and reasonably priced.NOTE: no credit cards accepted. Unusual dessert was strawberry tiramasu with basil on top.

Staying in Margareten

Neighbourhood Profile
This former working class district blends hip eateries and avant-garde cinema with a time travel into 1950s Vienna. Feel the district’s pulse at Margaretenhof and Schlossquadrat. 19th-century Margaretenhof is a local icon, yet has very non-Viennese architecture with its brick structure and cast-iron verandas. The nearby urban Renaissance castle of Schlossquadrat houses several restaurants. In the summer you can sit in its romantic shady courtyard over Schnitzel and Kracherl (traditional fizzy syrup). Siebenbrunnenplatz and its surrounding shops and grocery stores have remained virtually unchanged in the past 60 years: taking a walk there is like stepping into a 1950s film set. Speaking of movies, head to avant-garde cinema Filmcasino in the evening. It often stages foreign language cult films.
