the best thing is: you don´t have to leave the Center to visit a Heurigen restaurant this place is not bound by regulations concerning the month-related opening periods it is run like a normal restaurant .

A good place for hearty Austrian food like schnitzels, blood and other sausages, classic salads and appetizers. There's also a tasting menu that varies with the seasons. The house wine is OK and inexpensive. But the local 'grappa' will cost you more ! Very cozy neighborhood atmosphere and speedy service.

Our friends living in Wien suggested this restaurant and we are glad we took their advise. Very typical ambience, with staff dressed "Wien style". We skipped the buffet starter option and directly went to the carte menù. Not too many dishes but very well done. We had the goulash soup, whihc was very tasty and well done. Then we had... More

- very nice atmosphere, loud, cheerful, guests occasionally singing when a musician comes in - very professional and quick service - the menu is very simple, and the food typical popular Austrian; you can either choose from the menu or go to the counter, where the choice is wider - we took a soup and then beef tartare and old... Since it was October, many of the Heurigens were closed the week we were in Vienna. We heard about Gigerl and decided to go since it is located just a short walk from our hotel. A very quiet setting and the interior is very quaint. We just ordered local wine which we enjoyed although a variety of food was available.... More

Lively and entertaining atmosphere. Delicious food. Downside they only deal in cash, nonetheless it is a restaurant not to be missed if you are in Vienna and love live guitar music.

The place is wonderful both outside and inside. Typical Austrian, with nice food and professional, polite, smiling staff. Good housewine and really nice food. I tried their vegetarian dish and it was tasty and so told me my friends for their non vegetarian dishes. One of the best choices if you are around stephansplatz.

Seemed to be a favorite of locals. A little challenging to find off on a tiny cobblestone street, but worth it. We started with Celery Soup which was so delicious. Then had pork, potatoes, sauerkraut, stewed tomato dish and a wonderful salad. You do pay by 'weight' and can pick it out or use the menu if you prefer. The... More

This restaurant seems to be in alot of guide book, but I don't for the life of me know why. The service is just OK and the food is just OK. We ordered the goulash and the blood sausage. The blood sausage had no taste at all and the cut of beef used in the goulash was so poor it... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
