The Cafe Museum is one of my favorites in Vienna. It is a great place to write! The atmosphere is calm enough, still inspiring. They have a free wifi too. Atmosphere is 5 stars, service is very good and friendly. They offer a good quality viennese "patisseries", and they have a good breakfast. But: I find that they did overprice... More

Loved this spot! We went a few times for breakfast and snacks. There is a wide variety of pastries as well as eggs and sandwiches and the ambiance is very sophisticated!

We stopped at this centrally-located cafe to have afternoon cake and tea; particularly to eat Sachertorte from its true birthplace, the city of Vienna. Even though the cafe has a classical, jazzy feel to it, the cake was dry and not very tasty. It was really expensive and the service was quite slow.

Dear Yashmee, I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. In Austria Sacher cake has a legally food code. More or less it is a chocolate biscuit with apricot jam. Never expect a moist cake. I always recommend whipped cream beside! As you mentioned international guest have "sacher cake" on their list we do sell a lot of them.... More

It may seem silly, but part of the reason why I was so excited to visit Vienna for the first time was to savor the taste of Viennese pastries (and coffee!). I try not to have desserts too often, but on vacation, anything goes! I would eat dessert for every meal if I could, that is how much I love... More

I love to stop by this place at any time of the day. Cup of coffee in the morning, 5 o'clock tea with a Strudel and Vanilla sauce (accompanied with amazing piano music) or dinner with wine and pleasant talks. The staff is very friendly and well brought up reminding that you're visiting a local legendary place. I liked that:)... More

There were three of us having cake and coffee, having walked past earlier in the day and deciding that we would try it later in the day. We settled for the sacher torte, mozart cake and punsch cake and they were all nice without being spectacular, no complaints though and there was no feeling of being rushed to leave once... More

Very disappointed after initial impression. Service was very slow. We had finished our drinks by the time the cakes arrived, which were very disappointing. Strudel was luke warm and the pastry soggy! Overpriced and not somewhere I would recommend

Dear messymassey, I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. It's a pity that our apple strudel was not your taste. It is one of our signitiature dishes. And it has so often best reviews Also on this site. But taste is always a personal thing. I want to add that in Austria apple strudel is usually served luke... More

Dear Will P, I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. High quality, best products and service in a wonderful historic and traditional Viennese Cafe is what we offer. Often best review also on this page. We manufacture our patisserie for ourself in our family runned bakery in Vienna. Fresh delivered 3 times a day - also on weekends.... More

Description
Café Museum has been a location frequented by many geniuses of the 20th century.Since its inauguration in 1899 it has been a meeting point for painters, writers, composers and architects. Mid 2010 the Café Museum was taken over by Berndt and Irmgard Querfeld. The importance of a high level comfort is something the Querfeld family have always been very aware of and therefore they have decided to restore the original Zotti design back to its original glory.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
