Unfriendly and stiff service, overpriced, food way below average. In fact my "fresh" oysters were far from fresh (curled up and had no taste) and had bits of shell in it! Even had better tasting, more moist Sacher torte in a cafe in Salzburg (earlier...More

We went here on our last night in Vienna and had a wonderful time. The setting is really beautiful, the food and wines are quite superb, the pianist very accomplished and the service faultless. It’s important to reserve a table in advance. Well worth a...More

Again, the restaurant was very busy, including a small wedding party! However, the service remained slick and attentive without being in your face. The food was tasty and well presented, despite it being one of the more modest offerings from the Hotel Sacher. The only...More

The Red Bar is a longstanding Viennese tradition for elegant dining--at a not unreasonable price. Piano music and discreet service support an excellent kitchen, with classic Viennese specialties and international favorites. We had dover sole as a main course. One was big enough for two....More

I used their web site. I speak a little German so it was OK . It wasn't difficult. It's not cheap and since it's a bit special, there's no point in skimping. Reckon on 100 euros each. Money well spent!

My Fiancée & I went from the Opera House to the Rote Bar just this weekend after a performance. It takes only a few moments once you leave, just walk to the back of the Opera House and cross the road and your right there.

Description
Enjoy traditional Viennese specialities in this elegant and stylish restaurant. You can either sit in the black and white floor-tiled glass conservatory facing the Opera House or in the grand, dark red damask dining room with large oil paintings and crystal chandeliers. The windows of the conservatory are folded away in summer to make a large open terrace. Live piano music in the evenings adds to the ambience.
