The food was very good, and the service was wonderful. True Viennese food. Much more than just Schnitzel. Good wine list at affordable prices. Look forward to returning.

A nice place near Rathaus, not too expensive and providing good quality food :) Me and my boyfriend had a wiener schnitzel, salad and a kind of stew: very good and tasty all of these. Also the service was good.

Charming little place, very "viennese", delicious simple food, good service and decently priced. A must go!

We went here on our last night as we wanted to stay local with an early flight the next day. And we were glad we did. Very cosy little restaurant. Deceptively large actually but with the way it is split out, when you're in the back area it feels like it's smaller. Food is amazing; very traditional and good value... More

Having just arrived that evening, exhausted and cold it was a perfect introduction to Vienna and it's food. We had the wiener schnitzel and loved it. A really Lovely, homely, warm, cosy decor. Recommended

Having walked around the Christmas markets we needed lunch and fell across this restuarant. The waiter was so helpful and superb at explaining the lunchtime menu and the specials to us. We chose Kalbsrahmgalasch, a veal stew with pasta dumplings, perfect taste and seasoning, and Tagesempfehrung, perch coated in breadcrumbs and fried, served with a potato salad. A lovely lunch... I had the wienerschnitzel and hubby had the beef and onion stew- both were so incredibly delicious. The service was excellent and it was very cosy and romantic in there. It was right opposite our hotel 'Flemings' throughly enjoyed- Austrian food is just the best!!!! Kat and Luke from Essex

Lovely little restaurant. We were lucky to get a table - no reservations made. Food delicious. Daughter and son agreed best chicken they have eaten in a long time - one was barbecued, other in breadcrumbs. Not dry and succulent was their verdict. Husband had stroganoff and for me goulash. Delicious. HIghly recommend this restaurant while on a visit to... More

If you are looking for incredible schnitzel then look no further - Marienhof is the place to go. Aside from wonderful schnitzel you'll find the restaurant is well decorated, very comfortable and has great service. The other great feature is that it was smoke-free.

Thank Graham A

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
