We had to book weeks in advance to get a table. Arrived to very welcoming staff and were immediately escorted to the table. You need to dress up to arrive here. I had the 6 course with wine pairing, I enjoyed some of the dishes and others not at all but this was perhaps because of me ordering dishes that... More

Was able to get a table for lunch and everything, from the wine, food and even the bread basket was amazing. You must go for the cheese cart and Char fish, one of their specialties. My only complain, though I do not think I could call it that, more of an observation, was that our lunch was longer than usual and... Well established as Austria's best restaurant - we had high expectations... Food: of course very good, but the majority of courses were a bit boring for 2* level. Very well prepared, but some of the traditional Austrian dishes you can also get in excellent quality elsewhere, for a fraction. The fish poached in bees wax was a highlight indeed, as... More

This placed is quite impressive and by a New Yorkers standards an incredible value for the money. It is $152 euros for a 7 course meal or $142 euros for 6 courses. Additional $89 for the wine pairing. The pairing included more than samples, but actual servings of one and every wine was perfectly paired with each course. This is... More

So I'm on a trip to Amsterdam & Vienna for the holidays. The 2 places I was looking forward to were Vinkeles in AMS and Steireck. I can't believe how disappointed I am. Arrived at 6:55 for my 7pm reservation and was seated right away. After looooog periods between my aperitif, getting the menu and ordering, literally an hour later... More

After reading the reviews on here we booked a table , the maitre d was very welcoming and friendly , the steaks are very nice full of flavour with a wide choice of sides and sauces , the waiter was very good ,very attentive and professional and the choice of various steak knives from different countries is something different, the... Expect the best and then let yourself be surprised... Culinary art, expert and caring service, unique setting. All contribute to making a visit to this unique restaurant like a dream come true. Apologies to our friends of the guide Michelin but you have missed your rating and clearly fell short of a star. So, for those of you who have... More

Everything from the welcome, presentation (each meal was presented on a tiny card with explanations and descriptions) to the bread, tea and cheese cart was incredible. I dragged the whole family there knowing that I'd be the only one ordering a 6 course meal but everyone enjoyed their dinner and was blown away by the level of professionalism, expertise and... This was our second visit to Steirereck, two years apart. Once again the three and a half hour lunch was everything we expected. We opted for the Mittagsmenü - a five course meal that was extended by all the extra 'tidbits' starting with a four part culinary journey through Austria. The fish in the beeswax as an entree was just... More

Truly enjoyed one of the most talked about restaurants in Europe, though there were a couple of bumps I would not have expected. First, the amuse bouches were great, multiple very interesting tastes. The bread trolley was also a great experiences, so many very interesting options (though I would have loved if it had come back, just some different breads... More

One of the most famous gourmet restaurants of the city can be found in one of the most beautiful parts of Vienna, in the middle of the Stadtpark and on the banks of the river: the Steiereck and its sister establishment, the Meierei next door.

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
