Not as expensive as you might think as you can choose from menu rather than just do the set menu. Amazing choices, lovely wine and a nice ambience. There are lots of waiting staff - we must have had 6 to 8 people at different times. It didn't detract, just different to having the more usual 1 person. It was... More

My wife and I spent an afternoon eating lunch at this amazing restaurant. The service was impeccable, the drinks were paired perfectly, and the food was to die for. There is a reason this is ranked one of the top 10 restaurants in the world. Every aspect of the meal was top notch and worth every penny. Make sure you... More

We tried the tasting menu with wine pairings. Now these things are always a personal choice (in my view) but on the whole it was very very good. I would say that only one of the courses (the potato dish) was a bit bland - but the fig dessert wowed even my partner (who rarely eats anything sweet). Cheese trolley... More

If you enjoy fine dining and its theatrics and have deep pockets than I think this is well worth a visit. The location in the park is fabulous. The dining room with its high ceilings decorated with flowers overlooking the river is lovely. If you want to be enveloped in luxury and what it entails then this fills the criteria.... More

Last week I celebrated my birthday here with family and a few friends. Everything was perfect - the food with accompanying wines, the service and the surroundings. The staff is competent, efficient, entertaining and friendly. The last point is as equally important as the others. If you want to order "Schweinsbraten mit Knödel" this may not be the right place... We had a 7 course taster menu with wine. We had booked our own room for a business dinner with 12. The menu was just fabulous with some really exciting dishes like Char cooked in Beeswax or Barbecued Sturgeon. The wine for each dish was superb a good mixture of French, Austrian, the service was just perfect. I loved the... More

As a chef, restaurateur and hotelier I was excited to find one of the worlds top 10 restaurants in Vienna on a recent brief visit to this beautiful city. However I was confused that although S. Pelligrino rate it at 9th in the world it doesn't have three Michelin Stars. In other words Michelin don't rate it in the top... More

My wife and I love great food experiences, so we thought that a visit to Steirereck would be the perfect way to start the year. We've been lucky enough to have already dined in some of world's best and most creative restaurants (including El Bulli, L'Atelier Saint-Germain de Joël Robuchon, Quay, Piazza Duomo), so we were really looking forward to... The food is fabulous with great combinations of flavour, first rate ingredients and assured cooking. Service is as good as it gets, and the sommelier recommended wines at the lower end of the price range, without being asked to, and they were excellent. OK, it's hugely expensive, and we can only afford an annual visit, but it's a few hours... More

the service was excellent and the owners very welcoming, however the food was another matter. Despite the dishes being very elaborated, the results were non convincing as they lacked flavor. The proposals on the carts: breads, cheeses, caramelized fruits and herbal teas made from fresh leaves, were very interesting. The wine list was also very good. The check was coherent... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
