The food may or may not be good. But the way the staff treats paying customers is not acceptable and a disgrace to an international city like Vienna. If they don't want foreigners they should clearly say so and not create excuses not to serve them.

let me first say the wait staff was excellent. I think I would have probably enjoyed it more if I picked off the menu and not done the 6 courses. the wine pairing was fantastic though. but it definitely wasn't worth $600ish. i knew it'd be that price going in but I expected the food to be a little better.... If your budget extends it's worth a visit to this 2 star michelin restaurant which as it's name suggests is in a small park but only a couple of minutes walk from the metro (stadtpark station line 4). On arrival you are taken up by lift to a rather formal dining room. Service was very attentive and the food enjoyable.... More

I stayed 6 nights in Vienna and dined at the top restaurants but dinner at Steirereck was most rewarding. The restaurant was rated very highly globally but the staffs were friendly and was not intimidating. The execution of every dish was thoughtful. Very relaxing and was useful for entertaining important clients.

We had the 6 course tasting menu with the wine pairing for lunch. Overall it was nothing special especially for a top restaurant and for over 400 euros for two. The courses were relatively pedestrian (for a top restaurant) and the wine paring was ok. None of the courses stood out from the others with the flavours being relatively bland.... More

We arrived there and we saw that there were 6 free tables (we were only two and it was late for lunch). Once we got inside we were told we could not sit there because we didn't have a reservation. Now, the problem wasn't that everything was reserved, it was the way they spoke to us. As if they didn't... More

This was probably one of the more unique dining experiences that I have ever had. At first, I wasn't sure how the lunch was going to go because there was a lot of construction going on, but it turned out to be wonderful. The wine was fantastic and I was able to order by the glass, provided I went with... More

We when there with three couples for a birthday celebration and ordered a big variety of different courses and wines. Overall, our experience was simply outstanding. The food was simply beyond that what I regard as normal - this is truly an excellent place. In addition to that, the person recommending the wines was fantastic. The wines greatly fit the... More

Just the walk to get to this restaurant is pleasurable. Being received on the top floor and taken by elevator to the lower level for dining was a bit different, until you entered the room and saw an amazing view if Vienna. The summer gardens must be amazing. I wanted to try weiner schnitzel and was so pleased. It is... More

Steirereck is a must eat restaurant in Vienna. Both for the marvelous food but also for the entire setup where many small details combined makes it great experience. You are met by the host and led to the elevator and taken down to the restaurant floor where your host meet you agian and led you to your table and of... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
