The cozy restaurant (newly non-smokers only) serves with friendly waiters and waitresses only the finest in Austrian Beef delight, such as Tafelspitz (in its soup), Beinfleisch, traditional dishes, a convenient selection of starters and sides, and very good draught beer and a selection of wines. Reservation strictly recommended.

In the summer the beer garden will be very nice but given the season we were inside. The Tafelspitz was excellent and massive from the clear soup with pancakes to two large pieces of beef.

It is with a large amount of doubt that I share this place with you.I found it two years ago by looking at the map of Vienna and its tramlines. The D-Tram ended in Nussdorf, such a sweet name, Nutvillage. At Nussdorf Bahnhof the 2nd. last stop, I saw a small, old and yeallow house. In there is a gasthof... More

As a local i like to explore new places and i have to say Gasthof Renner got me instantly. Been there now a couple of times since the summer, especially nice in summer in the garden, and cant complain at all. Typical Viennese food, great taste and good size portions. Being in Vienna and in the 19th district it is... More

I have been eating several times at this well known restaurant with nice summer terrace . They are specialized in local home style menus with beef. The atmosphere is traditional, old countryside style. Service is fast and simple. Most of the times many customers, families, children.

Take the D tram all the way to the last stop in Nussdorf, walk up the hill a little and find some beautiful vineyards. Enjoy the scenic views of Vienna from the hills. On your way back, stop by Gasthof sum Renner. You can't miss it. It is a traditional Viennese Guest House/ Tavern, serving lots of meat dishes and... More

Found this restaurant after walking down from the Kahlenburg viewpoint to take the D tram back into central Vienna. It was full of locals enjoying typical dishes such as tafelspitz or dumplings.Meat portions were huge so we opted for fish instead. It came perfectly cooked with parslied potatoes and with a separate jug of garlic buttered sauce.Good coffee. Our waiter was friendly... More

Take the D Tram to its penultimate stop in Nussdorf north of Vienna, and you will fall gratefully into Gasthof zum Renner. This is an old wine and beer tavern with a beautiful biergarten nestling among ancient trees. Staff in traditional costume serve copious excellent food and fine beer and wine in a perfect setting, shady by day, cool and... More

This restaurant is superior in every aspect apart from the service! The food is the best one can get in Vienna, and wherever you are in town, it is worth getting to this northern tip of Vienna just to indulge in this cuisine. We had a clear meat soup, which is as good as the 'Tafelspitz' for which this restaurant... More

Staying in Dobling

Neighbourhood Profile
Dobling
Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns, and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill – fantastic for great vistas of Vienna. The woodland around Kahlenberg has a wonderful and not too strenuous hiking path - just don't forget the insect repellent. If you have adventurous children, take them to Waldseilpark Kahlenberg (forest rope park Kahlenberg). A must-do if you want a taste of the Vienna Woods is a stop at Josefinenhütte next door with its great food, cosy interiors and wonderful outdoor space.
