Great for students and travellers on a budget, eat what you want - pay what you want. Great pakistani cuisine just minutes from the University.

It is a nice idea but with terrible food. Nothing special or even close to standards of good food. The place is also not very hygienic

Tucked away on a side-street a few blocks away from UniWien, this original resto offers a buffet with various dishes. Diners fill their plates with as much as they want, also pay what they deem is appropriate. Dessert was a bowl of cream of wheat pudding with cinnamon and almond slivers. A fun meal the 'unusual' way!

I was taken aback by the unusual concept of payment for one's meal at this eaterie. My friend and I was looking for something spicy (despite being in Vienna) and this was recommended in my Lonely Planet guide. I chose some lamb curry, veg over boiled rice, and it was lovely. Not the first place I'd go for a curry... More

The food is good quality without any fancy touches. A buffet consisting of 3 veg and 2 non veg dishes. It was very tasty and the dessert was delicious as we usually get it back home. In the end you pay as much as you want.

The concept of Wiener Deewan is great because you can eat and pay as much as you want. The place seems to be busy all the time and still the atmosphere is very warm. The staff greeted us friendly and helped us find a table. Even though it's a self service buffet the waiters brought us water and cleaned our... More

the only disadvantage of this place is that its very small and there are just a few tables in there (although being always very crowded). everything else about it is just awesome: cool staff, yummy authentic foods, cheap and super affordable, good location etc.

We went to Der Wiener Deewan because we were on a budget day trip to Vienna and we were trying to keep some money in our pockets. Only if you're good enough you can survive on an "all you can eat, pay as you wish" basis. The food is unbelievably tasty, the space is impeccably clean, and everyone is so... More

I was lucky that my friend found this restaurant when browsing internet. This place is amazing, especially for people like me who travelling on budget and come from moslem Asian countries. All of their staff are really friendly and helpful.

We arrived at 8-8:30 pm at night after an exhausting day at Deewan and we were looking for an all you can eat store. Most of the all you can eat restaurants were closed but Deewan was open till 10. You can eat anything you want from the buffet and you pay how much you want when you are done... More

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighbourhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighbourhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
