Olso's oldest is very quaint. The service was very good. The food offered an interest variety such as Reindeer, moose, whale all of which I really wanted to try. I would recommend.

Feel the wings of history in one of the dark rooms cosy lit up by candle light, with heavy curtains and iconic photos on the walls of historically important Norwegians. Our waitress was knowledgeable and served us delicious food and great wine. I warmly recommend their creme brûlée, the best I had for ages.

Great dinner location and for enjoying a traditional Norwegian meal with great wine menu. Service is top notch and the chef doesn't disappoint. However this is norway so dont get carried away with the alcohol...you might end up getting a stroke when receiving the bill. :)

Every dish was really tasty and well seasoned: reindeer medaillons, catfish and stockfish. For the Quality offered the price was OK, however for a glass of draught beer EU 10 is far too much. Service team was friendly and attentive so we very much enjoyed our dinner and can recommend this 150-year old place without hesitation.

The 160 year old Engebret cafe prides itself with and is famous for its fish dishes. I went with a colleague for a traditional skrei cod meal. This fish is caught in the Lofoten island and you only get it fresh in the beginning of the year. The fish is brought to the table still in the boiling pot and... More

So, I had my classic Norwegian Julebord, Christmas meal here. Not a fan of that food but I do like this restaurant! It is a very classic, historical restaurant, nice atmosphere, good service. You will see me here again, just not around Christmas :-)

This is the oldest restaurant in Oslo and you can see it's atmosphere right away. The place is very cosy and quiet and the waitress kind. The food was delicious and plenty. The reindeer carpaccio is exquisite. We enjoyed each moment spent there.

We wanted seafood and this was the perfect location high-end but very good quality. Very filling we should have stoped at one course. Service excellent and the ambiance delightful.

Way below expectations. Dry and unchewable pinnekjøtt. I was offered a fresh serving, but it was only slightly better. Clearly, they are maxing out on the christmas season, which is fine, but you can still serve proper food. Great locale and good service. I recommend you go somewhere else.

When it opened, the restaurant was located right opposite the old Christiania Theater and was often visited by actors and audience.
Engebret also provides banquet services, designed to accommodate both small and large gatherings.
