We came across with this restaurant after visiting Royal Palace, and i have to admit we enjoy very much! Very cute and tasty food in a very modern and posh room! The only bad thing are the prices (In all Oslo is the same unfortunately)

Breadroll with soft butter promptly on table. Glass of tasty Mersault, then came the Tartar, lacking in flavor and contrasts, lacking in acidity above all. Next was King crab with chips, and potatopure, again lacking in acidity. Both dishes are good ideas but lacked cohesion and were not well planned out, too little of something, far too much of something... More

Went with friends to checkout Grand Cafe after the renovations. Was there in the middle of the week and the restaurant was not full (much appreciated !) Firstly, the renovation has been very successful. They have preserved some of the old features like the wall paintings and they have introduced many new and modern features.. The ambience is relaxed and the... More

The newly renovated Grand cafe has a nice atmosphere. We were greeted by a very friendly and professional waiter, but at the end of the meal another waiter took over and it all lost that personal touch. The food is was not consistent in quality. The king crab was wonderful. Great and varied textures and taste. Chuck roll with broccolini/estragon/hollandaise.... More

We had lunch on a saturday early afternoon. The restaurant was completely full and the personell busy, but friendly. We both ordered 2 different corses and all were very tasty and nice prepared. The renovation has been very succesful. Old wall paintings have been restored and combines the modern with the unique old atmosphere.

We went there yesterday to enjoy Friday evening with good wine and atmosphere. In the beginning, we got amazing service, but as the place got about half full, the service got worse and worse. The waiters stayed in their "area" not circulating, not providing water or wine and one was close to rude. We observed several table getting angry and... More

Grand has been a tradition place for fine diner og lunchr for generations. Now renovated and modernized, but the renewal is successful. The ambience is relaxed, the service excellent and helpful. We tried three "medium dishes" each and were well satisfied. The dishes were all good and creative, but some perhaps a bit tame in taste. Among what we tasted:... More

I have eaten here twice. Once at a breakfast buffet. The typical European buffet, cold meats, assorted style eggs where they are made to perfection, salmon, smoked lox, herring and much much more. Excellent choices and friendly service. For dinner, they have the Norwegian style of tapas. They recommend one small and one medium choice or three or four small plates. Three small... More

As I had visited the Gran Café during my last visit in Oslo I was very much looking forward coming there again. Very bad choice this time! I mean, it's not the major problem when the man at the reception is busy on his phone and does not take any notice of us. This can happen. And as there was... More

The Grand Cafe first opened in 1874. In the restaurant, Henrik Ibsen would eat his daily lunch and Edvard Munch once offered to swap the painting ‘Sick Girl’ in return for 100 steak dinners. Now, more than 140 years later a new era has begun. A new restaurant and an extensive wine cellar.

We are looking forward to welcoming new and returning guests, starting the next chapter.
