I brought my wife here for a birthday-date. The atmosphere were spot on. Quiet, calm and the music matched the theme of the restaurant perfectly. As for the food and drinks, I don´t think I have had a better meal the last couple of years! We had the kitchen`s 5 course recommendation with a wine package. All the meals were... More

... there was lots of candles and a perfect spot for a gloomy night. They offer menus or ala carte. We had King Crab, Veal and Deer. All very good, but the veal "won" this evening - very tender and with mushrooms cooked to perfection. The waiters very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine recommendation. Will not hesitate... More

It was a lovely evening, romantic atmoshpere, great wine, good food. Just watch for groups of very loud women... Little soft furnishings to dampen the noise,,,

I have been at this restaurant many times, and the food is always good. The service is a little "up an down". It is in a basement, so I think it can be a little bit claustrofobic. But, that is also part of the concept. However, the food is always great, but a little traditional.

The location was a bit difficult to find, but once we arrived, it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is downstairs with exposed brick ceilings and hundreds of candles. The menu is great and you can order a la carte or a prix fixe. My husband had the venison, which was cooked to perfection. I had one of the fish... More

Unfortunately we had a mixed reaction to this evening only due to 2 out of the 3 waiters that evening. We were 4 friends having a dinner together in December 2016 and found the place itself cosy & nice. The waiter that received us & led us to the table had a body language which said that either he himself... More

We had a nice 3 course dinner with the wines. Ok because it's Norway the wines were rather expensive. But nevertheless it was a great experience.

We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary this night, And was heading for a good reputed restaurant where we both had been before - even if it has been some years since last time. They recommended their entrecote ("Town's best" according to waitress). And I went for it, while my spouse ordered breast of duck. I love entrecote. When it... More

The food, wine and service is great in this place. The best thing, however, is the atmosphere. Hundreds of candles light up the stone cellar. The ambience is set by muted music of munks singing. Recommended!

Klosteret is situated in central Oslo - Hammersborg, beside the Deichmanske Main Library. The menu has a wonderful combination of continental and French dishes and the wine list is impressively diverse. The name Klosteret translates as The Monastery and there is a touch of the divine in the old brick arches lit by hundreds of candles and wonderfully calm atmosphere. A unique setting for a meal with colleagues, a romantic evening out or for guests from abroad - an unforgettable experience. The restaurant also has a Chambre Separée for private parties.
