Have just visited for the first time and was very happy with the standard of food and service. Have been missing good Indian cuisine since leaving the UK where you are spoilt for choice. We will be sure to visit again as soon as possible as the food was great and the service polite and efficient. I would advise booking... More

Had a Friday night meal here with my boyfriend who is a massive fan of spicy food (the hotter the better). What we loved is that you pick your dish and then choose the spiciness, from zero heat to expert level of spice. I went somewhere in the middle with madras hot and my boyfriend had vindaloo spice. We took... More

I grew up in England and was spoiled for choice with Indian restaurants there. When I moved here to Norway, I was saddened to not find an Indian restaurant which had the same standard as the restaurants, and even take-aways I was used to. I went to Mother India with my husband three years ago and have been coming there... More

Eating out in Oslo does not come cheap and for our short break we opted for made sandwiches and self catering. However, we did fancy a meal out for one night. A quick search of the area we were staying in came up with Mother India. As we walked in around 6:30pm quite a few of the tables were reserved,... More

Great indian food, large servings, good price. We both ate vegetarian dishes, which were really tasty. Indian beer. We had so much food for the main course, that we had to drop the dessert. Make sure you do not order too spicy. Medium + is quite hot.

Familyowned and -driven. Cosy and small. Decorated the way you expect it to, and the food delivers as well. Fresh and delicious with that little extra spike that you want from your Indian food. One of the best places for Indian food in Oslo

Mother India serves the best Palak Paneer with different levels of spicy. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Indian food and Kingfisher. The restaurant is somewhat small so you might have to book a table in advance if you're a big group.

We live near by and have been coming on-and-off since they opened in 1993. This is still my favorite Indian in Oslo.

Mother India is Norway’s oldest Indian restaurant. Run by the Sharma family the restaurant opened its door in 1993, and has been with the same family in the same location ever since. We are proud of this, but also humble to our guests' expectations of us.We regard ourselves as cultural ambassadors of India through the food we serve. Hence, as our guest you are not a customer but part of our family. We constantly source our ingredients from different suppliers, searching for the very best. That is why we also blend our own spice mixtures. This gives our food a unique flavor, and the recipes are a well kept secret.
