While on a business trip to Bergen I looked for a good restaurant on TripAdvisor and found this. Went there with two Norwegian colleagues and were presented with two options, small or large manu. We all ordered the small menus and was presented with one...More

We were a group of seven, celebrating a birthday at Colonialen. The restaurant is relatively small, with a high-end Scandinavian decor. Colonialen serves seasonal courses. We went for the small tasting menu, a six-course with wine pairings. Tasty flavors, and one of the courses really...More

Had a 5 meal course together with coworkers to celebrate. Nice restaurant with very good service. Food was international with local touch. One of the best restaurants in Bergen and quite expensive, but good value.

The place has a nice vibe but the food is really sub par. Good if you don't care what the food taste like and want to pay excessively for a good atmosphere. If you want a food sensation go somewhere else!

Colonialen is a nice place; excellent service, superb food and matching wine. Lamb as main dish after a wonderful crayfish and lobster salat, and chocolate ganach for dessert. Jam, jam :-)

Knowledgeable and fun staff, making the dinner an even bigger experience. Of course fantastic food, with unique tastes. Some dishes better than others, but all artistic in their own sense. High prices for sure, but once in a while you can splurge.

I so want this restaurant to succeed but it needs to go back to basics. The first time I visited this restaurant it was amazing. What was so amazing? The taste of the food. I still cannot fault the presentation of the food or the...More

Food is excellent - wines selections to follow are perfect - and good to learn that employees have good knowledge and are very well trained. Nothing but perfect. Did Michelin miss this opportunity while in Bergen?
