Within easy walking distance of the town centre, Ipswich's most original restaurant, Mariners 1900, is an antique Dutch customs gunboat, moored along Neptune Quay. You can enjoy wonderful food in a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy an evening on the sea front with one of the best value for money in town!
Ironically the most expensive steak we ever experienced turned out to be the very worst ever. Second bite was pure sinew and grissle hidden by the not so good oeppercorn sauce which instantly killed my appetite. My wife had a good try at it but...the sinew was more than the meat and got her too. The olives were nice around six each and the chips were okay but who pays £140 for olives? Seems we didMore
Lovely waitress, otherwise, wrong lager given to one member of the party, starter soup lukewarm,
steak fatty and not cooked as requested.
Informed by unpleasant staff member when leaving in front of the rest of the restaurant (not our waitress) that we had not paid...the correct amount of money on the bill.
We had !
Due to disappointing food we chose not to pay the service charge which we are told was opinional by the waitress when she handed us the bill ( it is not documented on their website or informed about about when booking, that tables more than 6 have a service charge).
Instead had choose to leave cash tip which hopefully the waitress will get.
This slightly dampened a day that we were celebrating my daughters graduation and birthday.More
Good food, steak was excellent, fish cakes were fabulous, service good but not rushed, good balanced atmosphere. Not as formal now, which is good and bad, depending on who you are and what the occasion is... will be going back soon.
We had a great night at Mariners Restaurant. We went there as a group of 15. Making the initial booking online was very straight forward. The food and service on the night was excellent and everyone had a great time.
We made a special dietary...request for one member of our group prior to booking. This request was accommodated with minimal fuss. All in all, very impressed with the Mariners Restaurant.More
Lovely restaurant experience, the service was fantastic the food was amazing best seafood I’ve tasted in UK in a long time. The ambiance on the boat was special. And was lovely to visit the wine bar across the street after! Would definitely recommend and have...done since being back home!More
A returning visit to the restaurant with friends. The Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is absolutely amazing.. I never have three courses but once again couldn't resist. Still thinking about the pinacolada desert, definitely recommend.
