What a delight, We were seated in a little cubicle placed for 4, ( but it was just me and my daughter ) made it feel very special. China cups for your Yorkshire Tea ( tea leaves ) but you have a choice of 20 different teas ! I felt I had stepped back in time, child hood memories returned,... More

We were told about this tea room by a friend and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. We had our dog Jess with us and she was allowed in the tea room. They even brought some water for her; very thoughtful! The tea rooms used to be a ladies hairdressers in The 1940's and still has... More

This is possibly our 5th visit here. It has happy memories for us as we had our wedding breakfast here. We had the wonderful afternoon tea and Sarah's magnificent walnut and Stilton scones. Delicious and generous as ever. Bittersweet because this is possibly the last time we will have a Sarah scone as the business is soon to change hands.... More

I visited the tearooms on recommendation and was not disappointed. The food was delicious and I took my little two year old boy with me and he was provided with a highchair and some books to keep him entertained. We loved it! will definitely be back with friends. Well done to the guys who are running it, you're doing a... More

My partner and I are near enough weekly visitors. I also travel from York with the sole purpose of visiting alone just for afternoon tea and friendly conversation with the owners Sarah and Brad who always give a warm welcome. The setting for this fabulous tea room is perfect, a listed building that was once a 1940's hairdressers, it's now a... Table cloth was very dirty and covered in crumbs, so went to the Red Lea instead and that was brilliant.

Once again we enjoyed a marvellous afternoon tea. However our visit was sadly to be our last there with owners Brad and Sarah. New people are taking over. Tried to get in again to say goodbye but was closed, we slipped a card through so hope you get it. We will miss you, hope the new owners do as good... More

Faultless. A little piece of history in Scarborough being preserved. It was a hairdressers in the 1930's and the tables to eat are set in little booths were previously clients would have had their hair coiffured. The couple who run it are very kind, enthusiastic about their Tea rooms and we loved it. Took two old school friends both from... More

Afternoon tea for five, £32.50 which these days is excellent value. Well worth a visit, we'll definitely return! Very nice extra touches and well presented.

Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.
