Such a wonderful experience here, my first visit to Hay on Wye but this was by far my favourite bookshop. A kind and friendly welcome, helpful staff who equally let you go get lost among the shelves. Beautiful interiors. A special place indeed.

A beautiful book shop, truly stunning. You could get lost between the shelves and never want to leave. Some of the newer releases were a little overpriced, but if you're looking for second-hand books then this is a great bookshop.

I had been so looking forward to my visit here. The first disappointment was the cafe being closed, though partly understandable due to current situation, but other cages were all open. The shop itself was amazing. So much choice, and so charming and atmospheric. The...biggest letdown was the staff. Out of the three shop assistants I dealt with, one was amazing and so helpful, the other two were downright rude. Totally spoiled my enjoyment. I felt they were talking down to me, and I was made to feel not good enough.More

Every author you can think of. This book store sell new and MANY used books. Thousands of books under one roof but covering 3 floors. Richard Booth put Hay-on-Wye on the map. A must visit place.

The book shop and cafe themselves are stunning but the cafe menu is overpriced for what you're getting. I appreciate good, locally sourced food but £8 for a bacon and egg bap is extortionate (as delicious as my partner said it was), especially as it...doesn't come with anything else. I had the Welsh Rarebit which was tasty but two huge pieces was a bit much, it would have been nicer to have something else accompany it. I was just a little disappointed as the photos of the food here on TripAdvisor look great but the offering was very limited and well overpriced, unfortunately. The service was good though and the surroundings are very lovely.More

The bookshop is a bookworm's dream, and the cafe was great too. We were also recommended a visit to the cinema which is behind the bookshop, that too was great.

Lovely lunch of quiches, Welsh rarebit, pea and mint soup and a bacon buttie! Just what we needed, having spent a good hour, plus, mooching in the bookshop, which is exquisite. The food was delicious, served very promptly. The menu was simple, but judging from...all the dishes we had - everything is well executed. Probably a bit on the pricey side for what it is, but the bookshop's captive audience (including ourselves) bought into it happily.More

Who expects to find a great cafe in an exceptional bookshop - certainly worth a visit on both counts. Everything seemed to be cooked fresh and not reheated

Good tasting coffee. Scrumptious cakes. Good service. Nice surroundings. Decent value. Would definitely recommend.
