There's 100+ pubs in the Peak District so we were pretty stoked to come across this one! All day food (which was good cos we were late for lunch) and a warm and welcoming setting was just the beginning! Amazing food, fresh, locally sourced where possible and well made. Thankfully we were deterred from ordering the 3rd starter (it looked so... More

Fairly poor offering the night we went! Pub food at its most average and sad. Lots of pre prepared frozen foods direct from the wholesaler I suspect.

Excellent food and service. The jumbo haddock and home made chips and rack of ribs and rump steak were superb. Definitely recommend.

Having just completed a 4.5 mile walk with my family age range 7-70 years the lunch at The Royal Oak Inn really hit the spot. The only problem I had was choosing as the menu is so extensive!! The Lambs Liver was excellent and cooked to perfection.

What a top place! Every aspect of my experience in dealing with the Royal Oak was second to none, from initial enquiries to departure after a 2 night stay. A group of 8 of us stayed for my fortieth birthday, and went walking, whilst hosted n the pubs on site bunk barn. Great accommodation, very well appointed, for catered or... More

We ate here on New Years Day - the menu, service, food, atmosphere all fantastic. The best meal out we have had in quite a while. The menu is extensive and it took ages to choose as I could have happily ordered at least half a dozen more. Can't wait to return next time we are in the area.

After online searching 'great country pubs.' We found this gem in the wilderness. It definitely lived up to its reputation. So treat yourself! Its a homely retreat in the middle of nowhere. We had also made a visit to nearby Bakewell and purchased one of their famous bakewell tarts (Not as good as my mums thought!) A hikers/cyclists delight after... More

A lovely country pub with a very impressive menu. Excellent home cooked food. A slight problem with a Bakewell tart that was overcooked but it was quickly replaced and did not appear on the bill.

Lovely little country pub, proper home-cooked delicious food. The most extensive menu I think I've ever seen! Make sure you come very hungry as the portions are massive. Highly recommend.

Being in Buxton for one night we were keen to find somewhere with an all round quality dining experience. The Royal Oak Inn certainly deserves its number one rating restaurant in Buxton! A taxi from Buxton will cost you £20 but it is worth it. We rang about 2 hrs before and were able to reserve a table even though... More
