I searched the internet for a restaurant that was offering something different from the usual fare, suitable for meat eaters and vegetarians and was very excited to find the April menu being offered by the Dun Cow. My husband and I were treating a couple of friends to a meal and so wanted it to be something special. Having never... More

We booked last minute having plotted a walk nearby and to avoid our usual miscalculation of distances leading to missing the lunch serving, decided to schedule our stop at the beginning. Very glad we did as we entered to a roaring fire, first dibs on the papers and a choice of tables. Took the dog ... which as the pub... More

I frequently meet up with old colleagues at the Dun Cow. It's a fabulous pub. Ambience is great. The service and food is consistently very good indeed. I never leave her disappointed. Very good value.

This little Gem is off the beaten track and everything you'd hope for in a traditional pub, the food is awesome (especially the curry's) and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Highly recommended.

We just love the old stone flagged bar with excellent hand pulled beer, cold Prosecco and home marinaded olives while we ordered our dinner. Watercress soup, goat's cheese, beetroot and walnut salad, and Japanese mackerel fritters made really interesting and tasty starters. For main course we sampled the Thai beef curry, sea bass and samphire, broad bean fritter with tabbouleh... More

My son booked this charming inn for a Father's Day lunch; it was perfect. Not easily or obviously located but what a find when you get there. Wonderfully unpretentious but varied and freshly prepared food. What a treat to be served by real people who have a genuine interest in what they are doing. Tempted to move house so I... More

Have walked past this pub and decided to stop and eat. All food is cooked to order, so if you want a quick dash in and out, this may not be the place for you. Having time to enjoy the wait, the local beer was well kept and tasty. The food was glorious, cooked to perfection and the puddings were... More

This off the beaten track pub is well worth travelling to even allowing that it's not open everyday and food is not always served. The menu changes monthly offering a reasonable selection of fresh cooked great food. We have gone as a couple and with friends , one veggie who loved it , and always found something to our liking.... A traditional Village Pub & Kitchen in the heart of the village of Hornton, North Oxfordshire. Comfortable, relaxed, welcoming and informal, we offer a range of cask ales, lagers, ciders and a carefully chosen wine list, most of which are available by the glass.Been walking or gardening all morning? Just leave your boots by the door and warm your feet by the fire. What about the kids? We think that they should be welcomed, not just tolerated.Just want a quiet drink, not a three course meal? Well, that’s fine by us but we do also serve unique and outstanding food. We buy superb ingredients directly from farmers & producers (mostly within a 30 mile radius of the pub) and we cook them in a way that lets their freshness and quality shine through. We’re also serious about seasonality and our menus are completely changed every month to reflect all that is freshest and at its best right now.
