Popped in here Friday lunch for the fish and chips and so pleased we did. The fish was hot and the batter was lovely. Chips hot and a generous portion of peas. The lady behind the bar was welcoming and despite the busy period we...More

We have been eating at the Honest Miller for many years and generally have been very happy. We have noticed the standard of food and service has recently taken a dramatic down turn. Frozen fish not fresh, a cook doing the meals rather than chef!!!!;...More

Two of us visited here last night, for their 'steak and a bottle of wine for two' offer. First disappointment was the fact that the bar only had one single gin on offer and no further choice. We ordered drinks and chose our table. The...More

It’s been many years since we last visited the Honest Miller so when we saw a deal on a website we thought we would give it a go. Our table was for 7pm and on entry to the pub we were met by the “locals”...More

I don't like giving negative reviews but in this case I just have to. I went on a Groupon tasting menu deal which, if it's to be believed would have normally cost £76. Not one item on the menu could be described as made on...More

In the ancient parish of Brook, under the ridge of the Brabourne downs sits a gem of an inn, The Honest Miller. This village inn, built in 1609, was for many years a meeting place for countrymen out pigeon shooting and hare coursing. It was also where the local hunt would meet, waiting on horseback to receive their mulled wine and spirits.Today, in this historic atmosphere, the attractions are a little different. Sit in the beautiful old English beer garden sipping quality real ale, or enjoy a ploughman’s lunch among the free range chickens. The beer garden is ideal for children, with a resident Shetland pony, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep and ducks.Inside, the inn oozes charm, with an open log fire and friendly welcome. It’s a romantic spot for couples to enjoy a candlelit dinner. Walkers and cyclists are also valued customers, along with their dogs. The kitchen is the hearts of this place – you need look no further for a superior home-made meal. Melt-in-the-mouth Romney Marsh lamb shanks, slow roasted and served with leek and rosemary gravy are just one of the delights on offer. Start with roasted butternut & vegetable soup, or creamy goat’s cheese with roasted peppers. Try our rack of Pork belly ribs with hickory barbecue sauce and homemade chips or Haddock with a mature cheddar & herb crumble topping. Desserts include Italian tiramisu, with Madeira and mascarpone, apple blackberry crumble, bread and butter pudding and lemon meringue pie. There are also vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes.
