Walked in and the restaurant was very quiet but received a lovely warm welcome from a very friendly young lady who was very efficient and attentive throughout the whole evening. Food was of a very high standard and I think they could bottle their tomato salsa it was so delicious. Lovely presentation and good, wholesome food. Would definitely go again,... More

Ambience is pleasant enough but it feels more like a pub that also serves food, rather than a restaurant with a bar which is more what we were expecting. The service felt a little chaotic at times, the staff were quite young and could do with a little more experience and guidance perhaps, but they were all very pleasant so... More

Went for lunch on Saturday. The pub itself is lovely, cosy and welcoming. The staff are friendly, attentive and professional and looked to accommodate us. Ordered the dressed crab to start which was very nice, could have done with more whole bits of the crab, but still was great. Beef wellington next and this was really really good. While the... More

We promised to give Chef Gareth a second chance following our last less than satisfactory visit. We are glad we did. Service was rapid and attentive with drinks and menus dispensed without delay. Selecting the pumpkin soup, we were pleased with the taste although the curried base was a little heavy handed. The loaf brioche was light and tasty. Mains... More

We tried this pub for the first time as we have heard good things about the food that people have had midweek. Not sure if they change the chef on Sundays but the food was so salty, really over powering. The potatoes were not roasted very well, parsnips were anemic and the meat was tough. The carvery chef also touched... More

Visited here with my fiancé in December. The food really was top notch! We had two options which you would be served in and top London restaurant served just as well. My partner had beef wellington which looked amazing and I had peasant which was cooked to perfection. Will be returning!

Lovely, traditional country pub, no more a gastro-pub than a pub-pub. Excellent choice on regular menu and the daily specials. All freshly cooked and good value

Thought we'd try the tasting menu here and were not disappointed. All homemade dishes and portions were a good size! The speed at which courses were served was perfect! The carvery was also on whilst we were dining and it smelt and looked just as good as our food was. Would definitely return!

Description
In the ancient parish of Brook, under the ridge of the Brabourne downs sits a gem of an inn, The Honest Miller. This village inn, built in 1609, was for many years a meeting place for countrymen out pigeon shooting and hare coursing. It was also where the local hunt would meet, waiting on horseback to receive their mulled wine and spirits.Today, in this historic atmosphere, the attractions are a little different. Sit in the beautiful old English beer garden sipping quality real ale, or enjoy a ploughman’s lunch among the free range chickens. The beer garden is ideal for children, with a resident Shetland pony, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep and ducks.Inside, the inn oozes charm, with an open log fire and friendly welcome. It’s a romantic spot for couples to enjoy a candlelit dinner. Walkers and cyclists are also valued customers, along with their dogs. The kitchen is the hearts of this place – you need look no further for a superior home-made meal. Melt-in-the-mouth Romney Marsh lamb shanks, slow roasted and served with leek and rosemary gravy are just one of the delights on offer. Start with roasted butternut & vegetable soup, or creamy goat’s cheese with roasted peppers. Try our rack of Pork belly ribs with hickory barbecue sauce and homemade chips or Haddock with a mature cheddar & herb crumble topping. Desserts include Italian tiramisu, with Madeira and mascarpone, apple blackberry crumble, bread and butter pudding and lemon meringue pie. There are also vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes.
