Ever since Mark took over this pub seven years ago, their menus have been excellent, with wonderful food to match. But we thought that their new menu, released for the autumn, is the best yet, with of course delightful food to match.
I recently held a garden Party for 30+ people and as I live near The Chequers I asked Mark if he would do the catering.
I am SO glad he said 'yes".
The food was fabulous. Sea Food and Antipasti platters for starters. Really good...cold roast beef with 5 different salads and sides as the main course followed by strawberries and cream and cheeses and biscuits.
Our guests loved it and ate lots: always good sign.
Mark supplied tables, chairs and sun umbrellas, cutlery, plates, Rebellion bitter and soft drinks and I laid in the wine from the brilliant Wine Society.
Mark was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble and i cannot recommend him and his team too highly.
Fabulous food, fabulous service and amazing value for money.
Thank you, MarkMore
We’ve been here twice now in the last two months. We stumbled over it on google when our usual favourite was closed. We were very happy that we did.
The service is impeccable. The beers and wines are perfectly chilled and the food is delicious....Large portions. Tasty. Look lovely and excellent selection
If your coeliac there are choices for you on here too (I always check as my daughter is coeliac)
We also are looking forward to trying the mussels 241 night and the Friday fish and chips ♥️More
We tried today as reveiws were very good.
The roast beef was amazing cooked perfectly still pink and so tender.
The vegetables were very nice and fresh and I loved the gravy.
What let it done for me was the cauliflower cheese as frozen cauliflower...had been used and also frozen roast potatoes.
I just feel for £19 the cauliflower should be fresh and the roast potatoes homemade.More
This was our first lunch meet up with another couple indoors and we weren't disappointed. We booked in advance and when we arrived were shown to our table. The restaurant had been sympathetically sectioned off to ensure there was suitable space around each table. All...the staff were suitably masked and very efficient. There was plenty to choose from on the menu and after a difficult decision two of us plumped for lamb, one for fish and one for a prawn pad thai. All dishes were absolutely delicious, honestly couldn't fault anything and I am extremely particular (some would say very hard to please!!). My friend and I decided to share a dessert and the chef very kindly halved the dessert on 2 separate plates, which really was above and beyond in my opinion.
We had planned to do one of the walks organised from the pub, but as the weather was miserable, decided to postpone. In some ways this is great news as it means we will return soon and enjoy yet another smashing meal. Thankyou.More
We had driven past this place many times and finally booked in to visit.
The food was really good, bream fish was tasty and fresh, we also really enjoyed the rib eye steak.
Service was fast once it happened but we did sit for a...while waiting, the waitress may have confused each other because we were greeted in the car park.
Once served everything was really prompt and friendly.
The outdoor sitting area is relaxing we really enjoyed it and will venture down here againMore
