We were looked after very well and the pub was very busy, the staff took the time to make us feel welcome. Service with a smile and the food was great, would definitely recommend it.

We have just got home after having a roast dinner at the Whitchurch inn. We asked to have our gravy separately, as we like to put on what we like and not what they like. The veg arrived before our plate of meat, Yorkshire and yes gravy. I said to the young lady this should be without gravy. Her reply... More

You know you've found a great pub when you start a pub crawl across Dartmoor and spend your whole day in the first pub you arrive at!!!! The locals and bar staff couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly, even the foreign tourists joined in conversations :) The pub is cosy and comfortable. The food looked amazing (will be coming... More

Lunch with friends, I had special chicken which was excellent. I had to twist their arm to have chips instead of new potatoes. The other meals all look good. The sorbet for desert was out of this world. The only disappointment was the female bar staff. She was more interested talking to other customers she knew than serve us. The... More

Beautiful Old English Pub serving delicious food. Ambience really nice, dog friendly so if you have an aversion probably best to give it a miss. Visiting friends down here and would thoroughly recommend for either just a drink or lunch or evening meal. We had the Lemon Sole in Cream Chive Sauce with Beans and a Pea Purée - absolutely... Me and my friend came in here and was quite lucky to have found a table for two free on a busy Friday evening. The table was situated a little awkward as one person has people standing at the bar right behind you, that is my only downside. There was a good choice on the menu. The food was of... More

A sort of village pub in the affluent part of Tavistock calling itself Whitchurch, I always felt this place had a slightly soft centred suburban feel, but it's picking up and the recent decision to offer Stannarry beers from the excellent local brewery just ack along the road helps a lot.

I have always loved this pub - still do, as a pub!! But Sunday lunch was very very disappointing. We had nachos to start - @ £6.95 this was a plain rip-off. Half a bag of tortilla chips with some cheese and dips. Id have taken a bag of crisps with me to add if Id known. The roast turkey... More

I've eaten at The Whitchurch Inn before on several occasions some time ago and been unimpressed so felt it was about time I gave it another chance, wish I hadn't. My tasteless cod arrived top side down and when flipped revealed an extremely soggy batter most of which I had to remove. The accompanying chips were ok though unremarkable. It... More
