Called here on spec on Easter Sunday. The staff managed to find us a table even though they were very busy. The food was super - fresh scallops, muscles and squid for starters then various fish dishes for main. Brilliant menu and lovely staff, far better than many other places in the town and much nicer staff.

We were at a wedding in Hope Cove and knew that we would want to eat in the evening after the wedding. Had a coffee and a bacon sandwich in the Salcombe coffee company which was delightful and went for a walk around the town. Spoke to a lovely young lady about where we should eat n Salcombe and she... A charming and friendly little gem, reasonably priced with an interesting menu. The best mussels we have had for years.

We have had some excellent family meals at Boatswains Brasserie (in my pre TripAdvisor days), but in our experience this year there was a definite drop in service and food quality. Most of the food was okay as opposed to previously excellent. I had fish cakes for starter. I know an occasional fish bone can happen but this is pretty... More

You need to book a table here to ensure you get to try this delightful brasserie. Mussels were first class cooked to perfection in a cream sauce with fresh hunks of tasty bread. The others in the party had burgers handmade on the premises which were also cooked to perfection huge and extremely scrummy. Reasonable prices and excellent wine selection... More

Because 2 of our party have restrictive diets we had made a prior visit to check the menu to ensure that there were dishes that could be enjoyed by us all. How disappointing on arrival to be told that many dishes were unavailable. We were a party of 6 of which 4 selected steaks there were only 2 available. There... More

Enjoyed a lovely dinner here as part of a large party of 12, fantastic service at all times. Fresh fish from the specials board was the way to go for our table and everyone was very happy with their meals. Mussels and Cod were a standout but there were plenty of amazing choices. This is on the pricey side but... More

We visited this restaurant that is tucked away down a quaint little alleyway one evening while staying in Salcombe and had a very good meal. The service was good and attentive and the food was tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Very nice restaurant. The food is a good standard with something for everyone on the menu. We had a lovely evening and would definitely visit 'Boatswains' again.
