My husband and I visit Salcombe regularly and had not been to The Fortesque for a while. We called in for a drink this week and owing to the great atmosphere, beer and food quality we ate there on both nights. The staff are excellent - really helpful and polite. The variety on the menu is unpretentious and of excellent... More

This is a truly lovely room, renovated to a really high spec. It was light, airy and exceedingly comfortable. The bath is particularly comfortable and beautiful to look at. The staff were really accommodating, professional and charming. They made us feel really welcome, we can't wait to return.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Fortescue. Good selection of food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff and food appeared without undue delay.

We visited the Fortescue for lunch. It's a lovely traditional pub, with a cosy bar area and plenty of seating for diners. Three of our party chose the crab sandwiches, which are undoubtedly the best dish on the menu! Crammed full of delicious fresh crab meat, served with freshly cooked chips. It doesn't get much better. I had the Stilton... More

You enter into a cosy pub where the same food is served as in the higher level that looks more bistro in style . An amazing menu on offer , there seems to be something to suit all tastes . We throughly enjoyed our choices. The room was full of happy chatter from visitors and locals , obviously a popular... More

Very good service, menu didn't offer the veggie option we were after but the waitress had a word with the chef and hey presto!

We'd come across on the foot ferry for a day trip to Salcombe. Headed up to another restaurant but they were fully booked for lunch, so we decided to chance our arm at the Fortescue in the middle of town. Despite its central location, the pub doesn't look that welcoming from the outside if truth be told - maybe a... More

Booked a table earlier on in the day but wasn't full. Ordered off the specials board as I fancied the rib eye steak, mushrooms in Madeira sauce and cracked garlic potatoes. My food arrived and it was steak with king prawn and chips, something that wasn't even on the menu! Sent it back and 10 minutes later I got steak... More

We love this place, down again in Salcombe for the week, first stop the Fort for food and the the next day back again to watch loads of Man U supporters cry in their beer as they got beaten 4 nil by Chelsea, I don't support either, but made a great atmosphere to have beer with friends, top place!
