We come to Lymington for a week every year and were really disappointed to see that the Waggon and Horses was closed and boarded up. Very sad as it was very conveniently walking distance from Elmers Court (spitting distance from the Isle of Wight ferry...More

Another worrying sign of the times, as another historic pub which has provided refreshment to those travelling to and from the Isle Of Wight Ferry - has closed down, and is now on the market, freehold.

Popped in for a bite to eat, fabulous burgers and Gordon was most hospitable. Refreshing to see a proper pub on the go rather than a big chain. Very quiet but I suppose in new year it's to be expected. I will definitely be returning...More

Very nice pub - looks fairly standard from the outside (complete with quirky signs) but the interior is done wonderfully. Very friendly, helpful staff. Varied, reasonably priced menu and huge portion sizes. Popped in by chance on our way to a hotel for a mini...More

This is a Wadworth pub and one believes Wadworth is still a Brewer. Which is strange because the real ales are far too cold and flat. It's not what a Brewer wants to hear is it ?? Other than that this is a friendly pub...More

Description
Well you've finally found that pub where Jimi Hendrix jammed before he did the IOW festival. It's changed a bit since then! It's now rather smart. Sort of coastal shabby chic, but it works. It's had a makeover recently and it's now gone "all foodie". Between heathland and waterside, and en-route for Lymington Pier ferry terminal, The Waggon & Horses has become a well-established New Forest favourite. With Wadworth accredited beer, decent wine and a rather fab local chef, producing very Tom Kerridge-esque dishes, it's definitely a destination venue these days. Don't panic, there is still fish & chips, but it's a bit more up market than the usual. Not scary prices either, just good locally sourced Hampshire products with a little twist. The ambience is nothing short of laid-back but with damn fine food and service.
