Lunch for two with my husband, Donald had the fish and chips which was excellent as always, if we could buy the pesto peas in bulk we would! I had the special today which was land and mint meatballs in a tomato sauce with feta...crumble, linguine and crispy tortilla. Outstanding. I managed one meetball and bought the rest home for dinner, we always get the onion rings, they’re something else. Angie and the team where fantastic as always, how this restaurant doesn’t have a Michelin star I don’t know, the food is immaculate.More

Friendly reception and service. Great food. I would highly recommend for lunch (and presumably dinner). Good value for money as well.

Absolutely wonderful ✅ service was brilliant and the food was excellent. Their Smokie was / is to die for 10/10. Very good menu, not too much nor too little in terms of choice. Cannot recommend enough. Looking forward to returning when next with family in...Kinross.More

Angie was fantastic with accommodating our family group plus 2 dogs. The food was absolutely amazing (I’d recommend the Sweet potato tacos & Steak pie) but all the food was great. Warm welcome and friendly staff. We will be returning.

Visited here on the 13th Nov.22 with friends. On arriving was greeted by a friendly member of staff and our drinks order was taken. Our main meals were very good, but not big portions. We then ordered sweets, which duly arrived.About to eat my second mouthful of sticky toffee pudding...I found a very long hair, called the waiter over to tell him what I had found and was told “these things happen “Was offered a replacement but as you can imagine I declined. Was not impressed to be told these things happen. What I can tell the Balgedie Toll is that I will never eat there again.More

Cosy roadside tavern. Friendly and welcoming (phone and in person). Menu is so impressive augmented by daily specials. If its possible to do fine dining pub grub, this is it. This is our third time here and its always excellent. Our two friends were first...timers and vowed to make it a regular thing. Standard is way above City restaurants where you would pay twice as much.More

We booked a table via 'phone easily to have a casual lunch. Staff welcoming and booking confirmed. The space is comfortable and as other reviews have described is old tavern style with ceiling beams etc. Service was friendly, informative (there are specials) and attentive. The...menu offers plenty choice for most and includes small plate options for some mains. We opted for starters of a smoked fish and salmon chowder and duck spring roll. The soup served with warm crusty sourdough and butter was absolutely delicious. The spring roll, so often an easy way out in restaurants was absolutely stuffed full with duck, in a great pastry served with cashews, spring onions, cucumber and dipping sauce. Our mains were a small plate battered haddock and chips, and chargrilled gammon steak which came with chips, coleslaw, fried egg and red onion, rocket, tomato salad. The gammon was properly chargrilled, tasty and generous, chips plentiful. I ordered this for nostalgia because it must be the 1970s since i last had gammon steak with the ubiquitous tinned pineapple ring on top and took a fancy. Thankfully the dish here was a completely different beast alltogether from that, another level, delicious. The fish and chips small plate was plentiful with lovely piece of haddock, crisp batter and non greasy chips. We had no room for the tempting desserts. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere and staff. Lovely fresh cooked food and very reasonable prices. Definitely added to our list of places to lunch.More

I visited for the first time with a family group of nine. The staff were polite and attentive and the food was first class. Having had some experience of working in hospitality I know how difficult it can be with a larger group, to have...all the main courses ready and served all together so respect to the staff, both in the kitchen and the restaurant. I'm often disappointed on the rare occasions when I eat out and have struggled to find a place I could happily recommend but no such problem here! I will definitely visit again.More
