I was here for a business lunch. Service from the moment we arrived at the "olde worlde" front door to the time we left was friendly and very attentive, but not annoyingly so! Food (I had soup followed by venison) and wine were perfect. The room is a nice size, and an interesting mix of an historic building with contemporary... More

Great food and service in the restaurant. The hotel is a bit tired. For lunch the cost for two without alcohol three courses plus coffee came to £138. Charges for bread on the table 4.50. Despite the food being good not exceptional I consider this cost to be ridiculous for lunch and cannot recommend this hotel due to its inflated... More

My husband and I have been here a couple of times and we have really enjoyed the meal. The steak was fantastic, cooked perfectly and the staff were very friendly. We would definitely recommend this place and will be returning again soon I'm sure.

We were a party of 4 celebrating life and family time together and this was the perfect venue. The food was beyond delicious - one of the best dishes we had was the quail and were very pleasantly surprised to see a specific vegan menu - the chef even made a special concoction which we recommended they add to the... We had a dinner for 13 people in the private Garden Room. The staff booked all the details and rooms, as the group stayed in the hotel too, perfectly well and were very helpful with the special touches we requested. Drinks were served in the main area, and dinner in the Garden Room. Service was good, not pushy but attentive,... More

Splendid food, location and building however, we had a number of issues with our waiters Firstly, I ordered a drink which came out different to my order. Secondly, the waiters struggled to understand what we were saying and ended up bringing out the round sauces for out meals. Finally, when we enquired about one of your deserts the waiter gave... Great Fosters provides such a lovely start to the evening sitting either in the entrance snug taking in the 400 years that the fire has burnt here or the lounge area. We sat in the lounge having a pre dinner cocktail . Service from drinks to tending the fire and take our orders was exemplary . Sitting in the estate... More

Me and my husband stayed at Great Fosters and dined in The Estate Grill. Everything surpassed our expectations, the service, food presentation, flavours, home made bread, choices of wine and Champagne (English sparkling Nyetimber and Ayala). I would highly recommend and would go back in a flash

The Estate Grill is our contemporary restaurant, which is a reflection of our commitment to providing locally sourced, simple dishes. Executive Chef, Marc Hardiman, has a straightforward and honest approach to food and enjoys experiencing new dining concepts, both in Europe and the UK. With this in mind, along with the current trend for dining to become more relaxed and casual, he has created an innovative menu of smaller plates, allowing guests to order a variety of dishes brought to the table to eat informally, in an almost "grazing" style. Choose as few or as many as you like and they'll be served by both restaurant staff and even one of our chefs. The menu still offers more classic dishes too, mainly cooked on our Josper grill, so if you fancy a traditional main course then the choice is yours! The aim is to offer our diners a more flexible approach to eating out whilst still using the finest ingredients, many of which are grown on our estate and freshly picked each day. Our extensive kitchen garden and glasshouse supply us with a variety of seasonal herbs, fruits, salad leaves and vegetables.
