We've just returned from lunch at the George and could not be happier with the meal or service. All three courses were of an excellent standard. It's our third visit and everything has always been perfect. Can't wait to visit again.

I'm not an active trip-advisor user.. in fact, I had to create an account on here to rate this place as I was beyond disappointed with tonight's experience. Begrudgingly.. I'm writing a negative review... I've been in the hospitality and customer service industry for ten years now, one element (no matter whether it be a pub, bar/nightclub, retail etc) always... More

Travelling from a day in Bath to a weekend in London and looking for interesting places on the way. Came to Sandy Lane over 30 years ago and remembered The George. Needless to say it had changed but it's recent refurbishment is nicely done. We had a lovely friendly welcome from Helen and the food was very tasty. The cod... More

A disappointing visit, despite good reviews. It must've changed hands or lost a good chef or two. Lovely setting, beautiful old building. We sat in the bar with the dog which lacked much atmosphere on a Thursday afternoon, bad music, and sitting at a table far away from every one else. Our waitress was very nice, however did not attend... More

We walked 10 miles to reward ourselves with Sunday lunch and a couple of pints on 09/04/2017. I am awarding the 1 star for the location only. At £14:00 at head this is what you get - a modest lunch comprising of 2 small slices of beef, 3 roast potatoes, 1 small Yorkshire pudding, a dribble of gravy and cold,... More

We drive by this pub on a regular basis and finally decided to stop in for a quick bite to eat. We were barely even greeted by the bar staff who continued to lack any sort of personality, not only with us, but other visitors. We ordered starters and drinks- the beer was bitter, warm and cloudy- not what you... More

Went without booking, we ordered drinks and decided to have the Thai curry, wow v good, the steak and Ale pie, very nice flavour and the Taglateli which had a fabulous kick....just how we like it. We all felt the desserts were too expensive, nearly the same as the main course!! Would go back again, really loved the restarant...

Hello Thank you for posting Tuesday £10 two course lunch is the busiest day of the week. The meal deal has become very popular. You were offered a choice of seating in the main bar as this was a request of the person making the booking. I am afraid we needed access to serve other table in the bar and... More

It's probably been 10 years since we last visited The George at Sandy Lane. It was always a traditional pub, with log fire and brass plates, and although a lot more modern now still has a lovely feel and Wiltshire charm. We found the service friendly and efficient and the food was absolutely superb. It was nice to re-visit again... More

Dear customer Thank you for your post, greatly appreciated, point taken with the meal promotion for Tuesday lunch, this has been advertised in three local magazines and we have three A-boards on the roadside advertising 2 course lunch for £10.00 every Tuesday. I trust this will be clear enough. I hope you visit us again soon kind regards Team George More
