This is a very average place with a captive audience. The best fish and chips are cooked in beef dripping and this is a tradition in Yorkshire . However the chips here are terrible , they should be a brownish colour not white.

We have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions and it has been consistently good. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, making customers with children welcome too. Children are provided with clouring sheets and pencils while they wait (which is never very long)...More

We have been going to the Whaler for years, for both the restaurant, but mainly the take-away. It is always really good and you get good portion sizes. If your not a big eater do not order the jumbo! Staff always friendly.

Always freshly made and piping hot, good size portions and quick service. If you are ordering specials or kids food to take away, best to give them your order as soon as you arrive.

I don’t know why it should be the case but it always seems easier to find good fish and chips in Yorkshire than in other parts of the north. Which is a sort of disappointment for this Cestrian. And these were pretty good fish and...More
