Called in for a sandwich with my wife after having drinks all week,I ordered a ham and cheese baguette and my wife had egg mayo, side of chips and two drinks £35. The food arrived within 5 minutes and I had melted cheese and thick fatty...ham with salad, the dressing was awful and we swapped sandwiches, the egg mayo was just a baguette with mayo on,not sure if it had egg on it,£35 for two frozen baguette’s and a bowl of frozen chips you’d expect more.More

We always visit The Albert when in Bowness and we went for drinks on Friday evening for my wife and daughters birthdays. I was served by the most ignorant and obnoxious barman I've ever come across and couldn't for the life of me understand his...attitude until another couple at the end of the bar said he'd spoken to them the same way and then my wife said he'd been like that with her earlier. The other barman was a joy to deal with so I guess some people just shouldn't be working in hospitality.More

Visited here a few times now. Each time food has been amazing. We love the cheese board and deliberately pay a visit just for that as often as we can. Highly recommended.

We always stop here for lunch when we stay in Windermere for the weekend. It was about 3pm on Saturday and as we expected, it was nice and busy with a warm feeling about it. We had a delicious meal, would definitely recommend the lasagne!...All the family (2 adults and 2 kids) enjoyed the food and as usual the service was very friendly and professional. We will be back, thank you!More

Food took over an hour to come out, and when it did it was very obviously just frozen food, really low quality considering the price of the food. I get the area is expensive but at that price I would still expect at least some...effort from the chefs. The other places we’ve visited have been much cheaper and much better quality! Staff were friendly at times, but I was made to feel like a nuisance after asking if our food was nearly done after 50 minutes of waiting, which wasn’t the best either. Go someplace else!More

This pub is an expensive rip off with awful quality food. I was recommended to go here by a family member and had a terrible time. I ordered a vegan burger as it was one of the only vegetarian options and Cost £17.50! It took...about an hour to arrive, which by this point we were starving, but about 15 minutes before the food came out we saw a chef walking downstairs with a pack of Linda McCartney burgers. Then when the food came out I thought that what I was eating was clearly the Linda McCartney burger I saw brought out 15 minutes ago. So I complained to the manager about being charged £17.50 for a shop bought burger, to which he ensured me they hadn’t just popped to the shop and bought the burger but that’s what they always serve. So I argued with him that for that price I expect to be served something I couldn’t just buy at the supermarket. He then proceeded to argue with me that obviously the food costs less than they charge and you can obviously make all the food in restaurants for a fraction of the price, like I don’t understand the concept of a restaurant, completely failing to see my point that the chef is meant to add some value to the meal and not just reheat a shop bought meal. Especially after having to wait an hour, it would’ve been much quicker and cheaper for me to have it at home. I would recommend avoiding this Pub/Restaurant as it is overpriced, cheap food.More

Thought the Irish lad running the bingo was pretty rude and unprofessional. He was abrupt and unnecessarily mean to a couple of punters who were just trying to enjoy themselves. He had the mic and everyone knew it. Actually shouted one person down quite aggressively...just because they were using the bingo terms which is clearly his job and his job alone. The lad lacked a sense of humour and thought he was some kind of celebrity. God help him. Other than that the pub was nice, great little beer garden and friendly staff behind the bar. Shame about the bingo boy.More

The venue itself is lovely and in a great location. The food was really bad. We waited ages and had to chase for the food. When it arrived the cauliflower cheese was undercooked and watery. The pie was dry with an undercooked pie crust. Very...disappointing.More

My wife and I had a meal here last night. Both meals were excellent. I don't think they class themselves as a gastro pub but if not, they should. We waited a little longer for our food, but when it arrived it was well worth...it. You could tell whoever cooked the dishes, cared. Friendly staff and dog friendly.More

Asked to leave the beer garden at 2130 simply because we had two dogs with us. Only me and my partner and another couple in the beer garden, yet the clock struck 2130 and “can you now leave the premises “! The fact we had...been putting £15 per round behind the bar for the past few hours was irrelevant. Crazy policy, especially in the Lake District. I’d rather lick wasps than give this business my money.More
