Popped into the Duke to add an additional meal to our group booking and was asked that we be 'prompt' as they were very busy. Although we were all on time the food wasn't and we waited 40 mins for the it to be served. I'd asked for my curry to be made extra spicy, but this wasn't done. Instead... More

As i was staying at the hotel on business I tried the hotel restaurant. From a decent menu it was difficult to decide. I had roast cumbrian beef, with spring onion and bacon mash, roast root veg and gravy. It was absolutely delicious and everything worked together well. For a treat I had sticky toffee pudding for dessert; again absolutely... More

Always a bit odd dining on your own. But the staff were immaculate and cheerful, the food is a cut above anything else I've tried in this town. This is not the typical frozen, deep fat fryer and microwave nonsense. Good quality cooking from proper chefs, prices very very reasonable. Lot of locals dine here.

We've been here loads of times - usually just for drinks but a few times for food. The pizzas are gorgeous and freshly made and the roast dinner is really good as well. Really nice atmosphere and very friendly staff - just wish the drinks were a bit cheaper!

Last minote "getaway" break covering New Year period escape - staying at a "wetherspoon's" pub/hotel ("we offer food until 11pm") OR trying to locate an alternative on New Year's Eve was pleased to be "squeezed in" for an early seating at a neighbouring venue after being turned away from every other "trip advisor"-rated option. Simply a better-BEER and FOOD quality... More

We dined at this restaurant with family and had a really good meal with good service. Not the cheapest restaurant in the area, but quality is excellent.

Waited far too long to be served, food was average, expected more from the menu and certainly wasn't worth the price.

Went here with my partner on a 'date night' . The restaurant downstairs had been refurbished since I last went and it was lovely. The staff were friendly and efficient and the place had a good atmosphere and the food was delicious.we thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend

I went here on a Thursday for a meal and drinks, we were seated downstairs in the vaults which is nice. Good menu and drinks selection but I made the wrong choice. I got the vegetable kebab which was around £12, I expected a bit more than what I got for that price, my friend got a burger which was... More
