Rustic wooden tables, bare brick or rough plasterwork and wooden floors but feels very homely 😀. Food is fantastic, eggs benedict with ham hock or the pancake stack are a must. Great selection of teas, coffee orhot chocolate and their cakes are brilliant. Staff are...More

We waited outside for quite a while as it was Saturday midday (we'd gone for brunch), but it was well worth it.

Came here for breakfast/brunch on a Friday morning. The place was really busy but got a table straight away. The eggs florentine were fantastic, perfectly poached eggs and the hollandaise was beautifully light. My partner had the full stack of pancakes which were also delicious...More

I stopped by here on a business visit to Durham yesterday. My train arrived early and I decided to head for coffee. What a find! Flat White is a quirky, cool place with a great vibe and friendly service. I had the chocolate, pistachio and...More

If you enjoy your coffee this is the place to visit. It may take a little while longer to produce than in your normal national chain - but its worth it! Each coffee is lovingly crafted by the Master Barista and it really makes the...More

Visited here tonight on spec & loved it! Tiny place & initially looks a bit bare & basic - but the food was fab. We had sourdough bread & butter & a portion of crispy prawns with aioli- best prawn I’ve had in the uk!...More

I think I had heard about this place, or maybe seen friends tagged in it on Facebook. We walked into the entrance to the alleyway to check it out. I was overwhelmed with just how quirky it is. I loved how tables were set up...More

We ate here twice during our weekend in Durham visiting our son. There was a long queue at lunch time, the place is very popular, we decided it was well worth the wait. The soup was delicious (though the grilled cheese that came with it...More

We called in for lunch since there wasn't a queue. We had crispy coconut prawns and Caesar salad. Fundamentally like two fairly robust starters but cost £9.95 each. Expensive but lovely food. The waiters weren't exactly attentive and you had to make a point of...More

Located on Saddler Street, just seconds away from Durham Cathedral, is Flat White Durham's latest venture: Flat White Kitchen. The five-story 16th century property has been restored back to its original splendour and is a meld of stripped-wood, copper pipes and bare brick alongside opulent French mirrors and fresh flowers. The coffee offering showcases the owners' talents, who opened their first cafe after working alongside some of Australia's greatest roasters. Five years on, the two are still regulars on the coffee machine, passing on their talents to only a select few who make the cut. The food offering from Flat White Kitchen is equally as perfected as the coffee. A strong, kitchen team has been hand selected from the finest northern restaurants to ensure that the menu is as strong as the reputation.
