Great food and phenomenal service makes this restaurant the best Durham has to offer (in my opinion). Will most certainly return again.

Great food is hard to find I think in Durham so we booked Baileys Restaurant at the honest lawyer again for my dad's birthday and we were not disappointed. I don't need to describe the food and the presentation it's all on the photos why not go and try it for yourself for great food and quality moments. Afternoon teas,... More

Good ambience, staff welcoming, attentive, menu was interesting, I chose the wrong starter, it was arranged on a big square glass plate 2" of pickle! Beetroot soggy crisps, one pickled scalop cut into thin slices, it looked pretty, it was like eating a small pile of pickle, the most expensive starter on the menu, very pretentious, in my opinion it... We visited as 4 persons and ordered a variety of starters like ox cheek and prawns followed by mains of pork duo, duck, fish and chicken. Washed down with 2 bottles of Ondes Sauvignon Blanc at a fair £146, reasonable and will revisit but not fantastic

We've Been eating at baileys bar at least once a month for around 7 years now and the quality of food has never let us down. As frequent visitors we see the staff routinely go out of their way to make people's experience a good one. A regularly revised menu offers something for everyone and once you've tried it you'll... We have visited here a few times, early evening and Sunday lunches. Good quality food and pleasant friendly staff in comfortable surroundings. Sunday Lunch this week was truly excellent, we both had Lamb and everything was perfect.

We booked a Christmas Fayre menu, for a group of 24 people, on a weekday at lunchtime. We had pre- booked our choice of food from the menu which consisted of a choice of 3 starters, 3 main meals and 3 desserts followed by tea or coffee. My own personal choices were pate, followed by turkey with the usual trimmings,and... More

Staying here for 2 nights with dogs. Decided to eat at restaurant at 7.30 evening and noticed it was very busy. Drinks were served promptly, including excellent bottle of Chilean Sauvignan blanc. Starters served rather late - over 35 minutes - because it was busy and I was irate but the quality - carrot soup and crab fish cake -... More

We ate here twice while staying at the Honest Lawyer. Our meal on the first night was excellent. Generous portions, well presented. There was a very good choice. Staff were friendly and welcoming but lacked finesse - particularly where the wine was concerned. On the second occasion, we had Sunday lunch. It was good to see freshly prepared, locally sourced...
