Have been here many times in the past for special occasions eg. Christmas, birthdays but tonight was for a hen night.A quiet meal for 6 friends. Had a drink in the bar area with the obligatory bridal headgear! A very thoughtful guy bought us a bottle of Prosecco, thank you! In the restaurant we ordered our food which arrived well... More

We called in one afternoon with friends. The menu looks quite extensive s well as interesting with things like squirrel on it. We decided to be more reserved and between us we had 2 roast beef dinners and 2 fish and chips. I can vouch for fhe quality of the fish and chips....the fish was large and well cooked and... More

I used to visit here for carvery all the time and was intrigued by the normal menu. So I thought I'd come try it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I got the mixed (chicken & pork) kebab. Main issue was just the taste. I wasn't a fan of the flavours of either meat (which I'm still unsure on what the flavour... More

First of all to mention the venue, this places is a classic pub that is truly one of the best environments I have visited in Durham. Upon arrival I was greeted by friendly staff that took me to my table. The mint lamb kebab was out of this world, generous helpings of meat complimented by three sides and a choices... More

Go here regularly for my Sunday lunch with friends. Always lovely & a wide selection of drinks in the bar for afterwards. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to try somewhere different on a Sunday.

Really not an enjoyable way to spend lunchtime or your money. Pub looks nice but over priced drinks and sadly poorly produced and presented food off their specials board. Suggest for better quality food produced by a restaurant walk across the road to zen's

Large variety of vegetables, lovely home made Yorkshire pudds and gravy. Very popular so best to book in advance. Hadn't been there for about a year, but... More

Where else in Durham can you see squirrel, zebra, kangaroo, snails, frogs, buffalo and the usual farm breeds? We were quite dull and selected pork/ chicken kebabs, served on skewers with flat bread, rice, salad and dips. Highland chicken with black pudding and haggis in a peppercorn sauce with chips; and a child's meal (limited option but went down well).... More

First of all i want to say how nicely decorated the pub is.Secondly id like to single out the young waitress who served us..very friendly and helpful. Now onto the food .My husband ordered the Rib eyed steak which was cooked exactly how he'd requested BUT at £18 odd quid we would have expected a couple of more side dishes apart...
