Have been visiting this pub for years, but just recently the food has been grim. Last week I had gammon steak, it was so salty, I took it home and even the cat wouldn't eat it. This week we ordered cod and chips with garden peas and a vegetable dansak. The chips were cold, the fish tasteless the peas were mushy,... More

At first it seemed like a nice family food joint, we were seated by the stairs and kitchen entrance. Then I saw one of the bar maids go into the kitchen and eat chips from a plate and then serve that plate of food to a customer, our starter was cheesy nachos-bad choice smothered in lashings and lashings of fake... Food is always good here. Been coming for years. Large pub with good variety of beers and wines. Food is good with plenty of variety. There is a car park at the rear for about twenty cars. Large tabled area at the front. Good heated smoking area. A fairly busy pub at times which affects the speed of service. Sometimes... More

The entire time in The Ship Inn was terrible from start to finish. We booked a table a week before, only to find they had to move other customers when we arrive and hadn't even put tables together for us. Some of our meals were dry, others not even hot, plus 3 of our group didn't even receive a meal!... More

Shabby looking from outside but having visited before I knew the inside was much better. Drinks and food prices reasonable, however.......our late Sunday lunch was very disappointing, Overcooked crispy parsnips and McCain? roast pots, a mushy mess of soggy veg, hardly any gravy in the separate gravy boat. Food including the beef almost tasteless, no serviettes at the cutlery condiments... More

As we made a trip to The Range to order a suite and bed we decided to eat before going home. It was just before 6pm and pretty busy with only 1 table left downstairs that was not being used or reserved. This was good as I am disabled and would have struggled with the stairs. We both decided on... More
