We have eaten here several times, and the standard of food is very good. I never normally have desert, but the lemon curd cheese cake is excellent. The decor is, as you would expect, exceptional. Normally the service is first class, but not on our...More

The setting is nice - but not that nice unless you specifically book a table by the window - if not you are taken up various flights of stairs and sat very close to another couple - we sat in the middle of two couples...More

I have always been an admirer of Mr Hirst since he became a great YBA back in the early 90s. When he opened the restaurant in combe we were amazed. We've eaten in each of the rooms at the Quay and a beer usually leads...More

Superb dinner for two in nice surroundings. The pan fried fillet of sea bass with crab meat & mashed potato, spinach, shellfish cream was a delight.

Amazing place to enjoy a wonderful meal. To give a practical example the chocolate parfait we chose to end the meal was delicious however because it was not visually stunning they removed the charge from the final bill. The main course was local fresh fish...More

Went in and sat down for coffee which was pleasant. We then ordered food. We asked if one of our children could possibly have salad with their meal instead of peas and the waitress said ok - she then came back and said that the...More

Went here for lunch after a morning in the town. Service was ok, a little slow and asking for a drinks order before offering a menu (presumably policy) slightly annoyed my wife, but as this is common practice in a lot of wine bars it...More

The restaurant had good decor with a lovely feature window looking out to the sea. We were sat in the upper mezzanine which unfortunately seemed to be quite hot and you felt a little unconnected to the rest of the restaurant. The food was of...More

Description
The Quay restaurant in Ilfracombe is home to a unique and substantial collection of Damien Hirst's works. The classical fronted building has been beautifully restored and now relates well to the stunning views out to the Atlantic and the traditional harbour of this ancient port. Exmoor Angus beef served at The Quay has been bred within a few miles of the restaurant, and the Lundy crab and lobster is delivered on a daily basis by the fishermen who catch it just a few miles off shore. With a wine list to delight the heart of the average oenophile, and a stellar selection of West County cheeses and home-made desserts on the menu, The Quay is a genuine treat for discerning food and art lovers alike.
