Went for an evening meal with friends, lovely country inn, warm & cosy, nice staff. Menu choices quite limited but something for everyone. Those that had starters chose pate' & chilli prawns, the pate' was plentiful & tasty, the portion of prawns was very small for the price but nevertheless also tasty. Mains chosen were calves liver, meat pie &... More

The Chequers has had a but of a chequered history of late, changing hands every few months. At last it is back to full strength! Had a business lunch there today, superb service, the best bangers and mash I've had for a long time! Truly excellent vegetable platter. If you haven't visited for a while, give it a chance, if... Visited today and I had to leave a review. A food critic a few years ago said to me that the best way to check a pub and the pub grub was to order the ham, egg and chips. Although we have eaten here before (and always had great service and food) we'd heard that the H, E & C's... More

Have reviewed this place before but wanted to add more. Had a fantastic Sunday lunch here today, roast beef pink, as it should be, vegetables plentiful and beautifully cooked. Crispy roasties and a high rise Yorkshire. What more could one ask for, just hope it doesn't get so popular that we can't book!! Well done guys.

Visited on a Saturday for a quick lunch. It was very quiet but welcoming all the same. Good choices on menu from a quick bite, to a three course lunch. We had one special and a baguette both very tasty and good value. The beer was well cared for too. Will definitely go back. So nice to find a real... More

Lovely little pub in the countryside. Great food. Friendly staff. Clean comfortable. The menu is what I consider to be proper pub grub. Go for it! Will go again when I'm in the area.

Checked out the reviews on Trip Advisor and was not disappointed. Ordered Sea Bass that was huge and well presented and Tagliatelle with aubergines and sunblush tomatoes. The icecream was delicious and the banoffee pie beautiful. The barman who served us was very efficient, running back and forth to the garden where we sat. Nothing was too much trouble. I... More

The Chequers Inn, offers charm character, hospitality and good food. What more could a visitor ask for. Yesterday, a group of 9 of us cyclists visited for lunch. We were very warmly welcomed ( something often missing these days), and our orders efficiently taken. As the weather was nice we sat in the large and pleasant beer garden ( ideal... More

Fantastic food, we had steak and kidney pudding which was good size and full of meat and liver and bacon, both dishes superb. Good beers served by excellent staff. Large beer garden and ample car park parking
