My wife and I went for dinner recently and with family and friends for a Sunday morning breakfast today. This has long been one or our favourite restaurants in Bangor and the standard remains high. Great food using local ingredients and good value relative to quality. Excellent staff. We had a few minor hiccups with the breakfasts this morning that... More

I was here last night for a meal in the restaurant. We were seated promptly in a lovely seat right next to the window. Our drink order was taken quickly but our drinks did not arrive for a significant amount of time.. in fact, I actually to ask another waiter to go check on them for me. For the starter... More

I visited the salty dog with my partner on Friday evening for dinner. We had booked in advance and when we arrived we were quickly shown to our table right by the bay window which would have been a great view if it had been brighter outside. There was a good atmosphere despite the restaurant area only being about half... More

Didn't we have a lovely day the day we went to Bangor........ Rounded off by an excellent meal at the Salty Dog. We were seated in the window with a view across the loch, the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. we both enjoyed our meal in particular the fish pie which was particularly very tasty. Will perhaps not leave... More

The food is ridiculously pricey. We ordered from the set menu and our choice was chicken or hake. When asked what the chicken might be we were told 'just chicken'. When the bill came we were charged for individual dishes and not the set menu prices. The food tasted good but not good enough to pay full price!

Having been regular diners at The Salty Dog due to their dog friendly status, we hadn't been in a while as we thought the service was starting to slip & when they used to allow us to reserve a table in the bar because we were traveling from Belfast for a meal, the last time they wouldn't accommodate our party... Have dined here a few times, mostly around Christmas with work colleagues. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the food. Disappointed - even though it was a Christmas booking, no crackers on table!
