The food and service was exceptional. We booked for first evening after lockdown was lifted. Hand gel as you enter and we were greeted by our host in protected mask and gloves. The space inside has room for 2 tables distanced. The menu changes depending on what is seasonal but all homemade. We started with Touka - tomato , herbs and scrambled egg mix with a ciabatta style slice and mildly spiced lentil soup with savoury croutons to start. Mains were saffron and turmeric flavoured chicken tagine with caramelised onion, sultanas and preserved lemon slices on a bed of cous cous, and broad bean, peppers and Celery tagine with sultanas, sunflower seeds and preserved lemon on a bed of saffron and turmeric cous cous. For dessert we had lemon and lime sponge, and a trio of tiny cakes similar to baklava. One is an almond shortbread, one is a ball of almond flour, toasted sesame and honey and a fried pastry with honey. Drinks were 2 mint teas, a cider and 2 apple juices. This was a meal for 4, 1 main was a child tagine of chicken and the cost was £82. Very good quality and the host was really interesting to talk to. We discussed Fez where he is from and different Moroccan foods, he makes his own preserved lemons and home grown mint for the tea. His wife makes the lemon and lime cake. We will be back.

Our meal here was by far the best we've had in years! Such a delicious and very authentic Moroccan meal. The owner and chef, Jo, takes great care and pleasure in cooking the food to order (less Chilli for our 6 year old 🙂), and was such a friendly, gentle man. The decorations create the perfect atmosphere, and we ordered extra pancakes at the end, just too tasty! Thank you Jo for a truly delicious and wonderful eating experience.

The food was superb again, particularly the Bissara soup starter and vegetarian tagine which had an exquisite sweetness thanks to the caramelised sultanas. The cous-cous is so different to any other restaurant – totally authentic, you can taste the effort that goes into its making. M'Rock N'Bowl is the only restaurant where we all felt fully safe thanks to the measures put in place (even taking everyone’s temperature). The restaurant is tiny so booking is essential (unless you are happy to order evening takeaway at lunchtime). We were hoping to try the new rooftop Street Food booth food but will have to wait until next year now.

A beautiful hidden gem overlooking the ocean! All COVID rules were followed perfectly and we felt very safe. Although the menu is small you know this means the food will be cooked to perfection. As the restaurant is so small it’s a very personal and attentive experience and it’s very clear the owner is passionate about what he does.

I did not realise quite how small this restaurant was but such fun. It was a wild night and dark so we had a little trouble locating this restaurant in the dark but ventured down the steep steps and you are almost in the sea as the high tide lashed waves into our faces and blew us into the restaurant. It did take me a little while to thaw out but the welcome was warm and friendly. The 4 tables were set for 10 but 2 did not turn up which is bad form for the restaurant business to have to put up with . We all waited for them to arrive as everyones food is cooked together. The menu is very small and the kitchen tiny in this converted seafront conveniences building. The owner took our temperature when we arrived which always strikes me as odd as this only measures your skin temperature not the core temperature but hey we went with the flow. The Prawns were a great favourite with all the guests and my favourite part of the meal. I was a bit disappointed that the tagine, main course was not more spicy I suppose . I loved the fact that everyone started chatting across the restaurant and the owner a Scientist initially, told us bits about the history of the place and how he got it up and running .It is truly unique and not many places where you would willingly go to eat in a toilet block . Everyone should go just for the novelty but take a torch in the dark

We booked a week before arrival, highly recommend doing this to avoid disappointment. Its a tiny place but well worth visiting for a gastronomy experience. Menu is small but all home cooked, fresh, tasty and well delivered using good quality ingredients. Obviously it is traditional Morrocan food, cooked in tagines. We had starters, main and desserts, all lovely. Very enjoyable.

This is a very small restaurant maybe only 10 covers serving a menu of 3/4 starters mains and desserts . everything is done by the owners who creates and almost dinner party atmosphere with his guests . The food was and service were wonderful and stunning value . Whilst the house wine was excellent . The location amazing literally on the seashore with the ocean rolling in . A great evening .

We had a lovely lunch here back in August as a family of 5, all adults now (just!). He was fully booked for evenings, otherwise we would have gone then. The food was amazing and full of flavour and we just loved the location, view and individual nature of the place. We had a great chat with the owner, who cooks for you and you can tell how much he cares about his food and getting it right for his guests. A lovely experience.

We originally booked for slightly earlier in the evening but our walk along the southwest coastal path took longer than expected. Joe was very accommodating and move the slot back by 30 minutes to accommodate. Upon arrival Joe made us feel very welcome and drinks arrived quickly. The food ordered was a variety of tagines from seafood to beef to chicken. The mint was home grown and the preserved lemons homemade. The taste and aromas were fantastic, a real find of a place and right on the promenade too. Deserts were mint tea, cakes and pancakes and were again of a remarkably high standard. We would have no hesitations in recommending this restaurant and Joe for his hospitality and will definitely return. One word to note is that the restaurant only opens for bookings, so you must pre-book.

I’d love to think I’ll come back here- although it is 7 hours drive from where we live! This tiny quirky space is rich in atmosphere and the sea views are sensational. We had one of everything on the menu and we agreed that the starters were some of the most delicious we’ve ever had. Loved the vegetarian tagine to follow. The owner’s mum taught him to cook where he was brought up in the medina in Fez. Simple food, lovely French wine and a great mint tea. Good value too. It would be fab to cosy up here in winter and watch the waves; the owner says he is flexible about his opening hours and if you call ahead he’ll try to make it happen. Worth coming back to Westward Ho for!

We were made very welcome on the first night of our holiday and enjoyed our meal so much we booked again for our last meal. We were greeted very warmly by the owner with very good Covid compliance which included our temperature being monitored each time, the use of hand gel and track and trace recording. The food was excellent and the ambiance was just right. We highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely return again when we next visit Westward Ho!

Believe the positive reviews - they are all true! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the accompanying customers conversations. This is a tiny restaurant and I would definitely recommend booking. Tonight there were only four tables of two. We felt really safe as our temperature was taken as soon as we arrived and we were asked to sign a register with our name, address and phone number. The food was superb and extremely good value. The Chicken tagine was quite delicious and flavoursome. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Crepe for dessert.

Visited last night with friends and all of us enjoyed our starters and meals which were so tasty. The surroundings are wonderful too, adding to the feeling of authenticity with pretty colourful tiling and mosaics and a few Moroccan photographs on the walls. The view was particularly terrific as the high tide was crashing against the sea wall and the panoramic window allowed us to appreciate it fully. The chef/host is a charming man, attentive without being intrusive or overbearing. We loved it and will be back!

We visited in late August and we were expecting a nice meal and a pleasant experience but we received neither . You replied to my husbands review in which you must have had some memory loss . At no point did we ask for Diet Coke as we do not drink it but even if we had what we actually got was Sugar Free Pepsi from a can . Your first greeting to us was pleasant enough but when we failed to order a starter that’s when it all went downhill , after that the only thing you said to us was “Do you want a sweet ?” You didn’t even say goodbye when we left and the reason for that is you were too busy pandering to the to the large group of people that occupied the rest of the establishment who were ordering copious bottles of wine and inflating your ego with their comments and getting louder and more obnoxious by the minute .It got to the point where we couldn’t hear each other talking. There were about eight in their party and we had to wait probably about forty five minutes while you prepared their starters and served them before you prepared our order yet we arrived first . The food at best was mediocre,it says the Meatballs are done with lots of spices but I think you must have forgotten to add them to my husbands as they were just bland with no flavour whatsoever ( yes I did try them ) and the Couscous was just a heap of sloppy mess ,my Chicken was passable but yet again nothing special . My husbands description of the dessert went straight over your head and he only ordered it because I said that you had been cross when we hadn’t ordered a starter . That’s how uncomfortable YOU made ME feel . I would like to think that maybe you just took your eye off the ball for that one evening but for us unfortunately it certainly wasn’t a pleasant experience.

First of all, I should like to bring your attention to some facts: 1/ Your visit was on September the 1st at 7pm and not late August, as you claimed. 2/ Hundreds of customers Had a starter and a dessert (ONLY) and they were fully satisfied with both the service and the food. Never at any point the service nor the quality of the food went downhill because of what they ordered. 3/ The nice family who were in the restaurant, the same time as you and your husband, were enjoying their meals and never, at any point, were drinking excessively, or making excessive noise nor "inflating my ego" as you falsely claimed. By the way, it was their second visit to the restaurant and they thoroughly enjoyed both occasions. 4/ The cooking of your mains started at the same as the starters for the other diners. The mains take longer to cook, this was why the other diners had their staters first and immediately after that you had your mains. Both you and your husband and the other diners booked at 7pm and this is a fact. 5/ I never took my eyes of the ball, I have cooked the SAME food using the SAME ingredients for both you and your husband and the family of 8. Yet they enjoyed it, but you didn't! I should like reiterate that an extremely high number of customers enjoyed the freshly cooked food at M'Rock N'Bowl, in addition, a very number of customers revisited the restaurant. Regarding your insulting remarks, which I quote " memory loss" and "inflating ego" are out of character and not fitting.

Our first experience after numerous visits to Westward Ho! and one well worth the wait. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough for its atmosphere and quality of food. I suffer with coeliac disease and the owner was very happy to accommodate me and specially purchased ingredients before my visit. The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced. We can’t wait to return to go back again!
