Always nice 'Coming back ' to this great little grotto in Valchiavenna. The weather was on our side, so we decided to sit outside and enjoy lunch. Great flavours as usual, not too experimental cooking, local products and beautiful Nebbiolo at €60 a head, yes, definitely on the expensive side but worth every cent! Grazie!!

It was the wine of Mamete Prevostini that brought us here. Before leaving for Italy we wanted to have a few winery tastings lined up, and because we were specifically traveling to the Valtellina Valley, we didn't want to miss visiting the Prevostini winery. When we arranged our tasting our contact suggested a tour then tasting with lunch at Crotasc.... More

On my first visit (over 10 years ago), the seasonal menu included fresh deer steak with a cherry reduction sauce using ingredients from their own garden (they also have a nice-sized vineyard). I was hooked. I've been there twice more over the years (any time I'm near that area of Italy) and every time, the meal -- whether from the... More

Without going into ridiculous nouvelle or Macrobiotique , inventive cuisine based on local productsand excellent wines produced by the owners. The service is impeccable . I do not understand why they do not have a Michelin Star • It is the second visit and it was absolutely fabulous

I love this restaurant. Their food is outstanding and their menu changes every few weeks and presents typical food of the region but prepared in a very refined way. In Summer you can sit on the balcony, in Winter in a cosy room with an open fire place and traditional decoration. Always an excellent choice! They have their own vineyard... More

This place is hidden so you need to search for it. We were taken in despite not having a reservation. The service was excellent and the cuisine, which is seasonal, was simply sublime. Having just entered Italy from Switzerland via the Splugen Pass, this establishment was well worth the search.

Hidden in Mese off the main road between Como and Chiavenna, this restaurant takes the mountain cuisine to a new level. The pizoccheri bianchi and local roasted mountain deer and goat are fantastic as are the local steaks and lamb. The dessert and wine list make this a very memorable experience. Service can be slow and familiar but well worth... More

Just great. A very rustic ambient (be sure to ask for the old "stua" when you book) with an elegant atmosphere. The food is delicious but avoid this place if you are on a diet! Try the meats and the magnificent "gnocchetti bianchi".
