Went to La Pergola Restaurant in Populonia for lunch today. The restaurant was completely full by the time we had our order taken. We both had Millefoglie con pesce bianco ~ white fish served with potatoes and coated in almonds. Tasty. We had two cheese...cake puddings and two expresso coffees too. The waiting staff were efficient and helped us with our basic Italian which assisted us.More

Few choices and poor variety of the menu. The quality of food is decent but the portions are extremely small and the price absurdly high compared to the overall level of the experience. Service is below average.

We could not have asked for a better meal or a better dining experience. The food was pretty incredible. The view of the sea is wonderful. The chef first class. The staff is great. Well done! We started with the assorted seafood appetizer. It was...beautifully arranged and every offering was delicious. It looked small at first but because each sample was so incredible, it fills your mouth with satisfaction that you appreciate the simplicity of the ingredients are are well satiated. The fish is not lost in them, but rather the flavor is enhanced. I should have taken a photo but we wanted to get right into it since it looked amazing. I had a local fish for my mail course which was I can’t remember the name. Italian is not my first language and therefore did not understand all the descriptions on the menu. The English language menu does not explain the nuances of the ingredients. (Like orange, almonds, fennel... etc.) I asked the waiter for a suggestion. He did not disappoint! The restaurant is right on the sea and we watched the sky change at sunset which was so relaxing. If you are looking to stuff yourself, this may not be the place for you. But if you are looking for excellent fish, deliciously and creatively prepared and leave feeling well satisfied, go here!More

Too expensive for what they offer. Small portion and the quality is not even that good. We were open to pay more for a good dinner but we were very disappointed. A ordinarly fish soup is 18€.

We had high hopes for this restaurant as we were taking friends. We had read the good reviews but perhaps we should have concentrated on the poorest reviews. Our conclusion; over priced and mediocre quality at best. We have eaten well in this locality at...almost half the price. The good point; beautiful location.More

This was the best lunch we had during our trip to Tuscany. The food was outstanding and the staff was very friendly. For 4 people, we ordered octopus antipasti, two different pasta dishes with seafood and two different fried fish dishes. Everything was delicious! You...could tell that the fish and the seafood were very fresh, and that they are experts in how to cook them. (We come from Spain, so we have high expectations of fish dishes.) This is why I am surprised to read negative reviews... According to our experience this place deserves our best recommendation.More

Terribile dinner, service, prices … briefly, it was supposed to be a quite awesome evening watching the sunset by the sea side. It turned up to be a nightmare!!! The entré was cold and not fresh, the bread was old at least two days, the...legumes were not natural neither, the fish was first boiled then grilled a lil bit to make it seam better; not to talk about the “bill”, 2 entrés, water, a normal wine & water, two seconds plateaus, extremely expensive, PRICE: €104,00 paid to get a terrible stomach aches that still lasted the following day. And experience to forget!!! Don’t even stop for breakfastMore

I must say that we were very disappointed due that I choose to take my wife to see the wonderful sunset by the sea side on this charming Toscana, thought to find this perfect lil restaurant walking aside and thought to be lucky @that moment....Everything was cold, non fresh, from the food to the bread old at least two days, continuing to a simple salad which it wasn't at its top. I paid a hell of a bill @the end to closed at its top our evening, without the napkins to clean each other that you could find ar the worst restaurant in continent America. We asked for pepper, yet the literally brought us SALT! PD: THIS IS ADDRESSED TO THE OWNERS WHOM HAVE NON INTENTION ON WORKING… GIVE A WAY A MARVELOUS PLACE LIKE THAT, IT MERITS MUCH MUCH THAN YOU ARE OFFERING CLIENTS AT AN INDECENT PRICE JUST CAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO WORK!More

Perhaps it was the shorts and walking boots but I never been made to feel unwelcome in Italy before. We were refused a table outside being told they were reserved which clearly was not the case for all the tables. We were given the tourist...menu despite speaking Italian. The pasta for lunch was good but the meal was expensive with cover charge and water added. Perhaps it's better for dinner when one is dressed up. There is very little choice in Baratti which is effectively a simple beach resort with virtually no facilities.More
