Always interesting to read poor previous reviews , and ignore them :) Greeted promptly by courteous staff who have a fabulous command of English. The service was courteous, drinks came , orders taken, very smooth. Kids meals were generous - kept them quiet. I had the hake - delicious My better half had the seafood pancake, not cheap but she loved... More
Welcome stop after long walk with dog. Nice pint served by welcoming and friendly barman. Very busy with diners but nonetheless treated equally as important even though we were only drinking.
A belated Post but one which I had fully intended to write as a vote of thanks. I had just walked the 26 or so miles from Bigbury and had intended to round Start Point and wild camp somewhere on the Hallsands beachfront area. Unfortunately after rounding Prawle Pont it started to rain hard – very hard, and with no... More
Telephoned three times and was given the promise that the Bookings Secretary would phone with details - am still waiting!! So we went elsewhere for a few nights. Five of us had Cod and Chips for lunch - oh so greasy and why so much salad. However we also attended the Hallsands Centenary Crab supper and found this to be... More
ARE YOU SURE, We were closed for the whole of January so as to refurbish the bar and paint through only opening for the Hallsands Centenary 26th January, so you could not have stayed with us and any member of staff would have told you that. On the lunch time of the 26th we opened just for fish & chips,... More
Don't need to say a lot! Four of us visited on a public holiday at lunchtime, so predictably busy. Location to die for; service attentive; plaice (best ever), fish pie, scallops and cod 'n chips (yes, brilliant chips) all perfectly cooked and served. Good value; friendly atmosphere; loos modern and clean. What else could you want!
Nice position, nice decor and attentive staff. Our starters of Salmon Scotch Egg and Scallops were excellent. My husband's fish and chips were also very good, but my main of halibut and wilted spinach was where it went not just wrong, but very wrong! The fish was luke warm, so I returned the food. They efficiently served my second plate... More
I normally have a witty reply but in your case an apology is required, but you praised everything else, nice decor, attentive staff, the other dishes you had were excellence, unfortunately your dish went wrong sorry, so is one star fair?? plus when I checked your wine was complimentary hopefully we will get the chance to impress you again this... First the positives: It's in a good position, particularly on a sunny day, with lots of walks nearby; it's well appointed, bright, clean and airy; the waiting staff were polite, friendly and efficient; the food came quickly; it's child and dog friendly and a good place for friends and family to meet up; and we've had good meals there before,... Hi thanks for your review 'a very busy boxing day' to say the least, but you are right it should be good all the time I apologise yours was not 100% hopefully we will see you this year many thanks Nigel More
Visited on 2nd Jan, it was extremely busy but the managed found us a spot in under 10 mins. Very professional staff who clearly knew what they were doing. Food is higher priced than your standard pub but this is not 'pub grub'. Scallops and white bait to start, generous portions and the scallops in particular were outstanding. Fish pie... More

I read that this is a mainly seafood restaurant but do they do other non-shellfish food as sadly I'm allergic to prawns, scallops and the like. I'm staying in Hallsands for a week in May/June so would be good to know there's somewhere within walking distance to have dinner, as long as I don't fall off the cliff on the way back!
