We last visited at the end of last year. Good menu and good wine. So we decided to visit tomorrow ( 12/5/17). Emailed 2 weeks ago and still no reply. Shame the booking is not as smooth as a meal. So as a result they loose out on taster menu for 8. But am sure they are so busy it... More

Had a lovely mid week meal here. The whole place really hits the mark. Really relaxed service with wonderful and tasty food. The offer of a cocktail to start is a lovely touch and my partner had a great negroni. The lamb we had as a main just melted in the mouth and the doughnuts are a real must. So... More

This is clearly a high quality restaurant as evidenced by much of the Sunday roast we enjoyed. There were just a few blemishes. I would have preferred more interesting or a better choice of vegetables. I would have expected a more authentic & mouth watering rice pudding. Finally our waiter was rather inflexible, my wife having been told in no... More

We have been variously told that this place (owned by a Masterchef finalist) was excellent or disappointing, so we decided to find out for ourselves which it was! I can see why the Hole In The Wall might get some negative feedback. Its essentially a pub, and whilst the bar areas is nice enough the dining area we were in... More

Recently we saw Alex Rushmer on Master Chef and his restaurant was mentioned . We realised it was not that far from us ( 40 mins ) and thought we would try it . I so wish we had known about it before we have just had a perfect lunch every element was wonderful and we will hopefully return soon... More

First visit having seen the chef as a judge on Masterchef. The food was delicious, the staff efficient and the venue lovely. Sadly we found that the restaurant is closing at the end of June so won't get to visit again.

We took my 89 year old mother here today for a lunch outing from her care home. It was a great experience, especially for her. We shunned a starter and went straight for the plaice as a main course. My mother was initially a bit disappointed when the skilful waiter steered her away from the hanger steak because she likes... More

From the moment we arrived we slipped in the ambiance of the place; comfortable, warm and welcoming. The food was exceptional and very reasonably priced. Staff very attentive when necessary but gave us our space when not. Thank you for the experience

We went here with our eight year old daughter and my in-laws. The immediate welcome was warm and friendly and there was an excellent selections of drinks. The menu had a definite fishy theme: fillet of mackerel followed by sea bass for me which was fantastic. Beautifully presented with complimentary water (both fizzy and still which was a nice touch).... More

Reading other reviews crticising the service is extremely surprising! The staff were ever so friendly , professional and attentive . The surroundings are perfect for a relaxed evening. This is the traditional English restaurant experience - cosy bar - being taken to your table in beautiful surroundings. Lots of little extra touches I expected exceptional quality and got it! I...
