Good quality food but I think the interior looks a little shabby and could do with a revamp; doesn't match the menu prices.

My husband and I visited the eagle and child with his brother and sister in law. 3 of us had chicken liver parfait ( pate) which was nice but the toast it was served with was disappointing. My husband had chilli prawns which he said was nice but that was it. The steak, ale & mushroom pie was good, my... More

I eat here fairly regularly as it is local and I have never been disappointed yet. I'm actually quite shocked at some negative feedback on here because I am picky and the quality of the food has always been high when I have visited. It is fresh, locally sourced, well presented and well proportioned food. The sticky toffee pudding is... More

Went for a quick tea! My husband had soup, very thick and stodgy! Then he had sirloin steak! Well now we know why he was given a knife that was like a machete! Even that couldnt cut it, luckily he hasn't got false teeth, otherwise we would have had to send it back!! He fought his way through it, but... More

Very shabby would be the best way to describe the interior, the toilets leave an awful lot not be desired. They are tired, dirty and in need of a renovation to bring this pub back into competition with nearest rivals. The food however is delicious, such a shame it's environment let's it down

Enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch here last week-end. Generous portions of roast beef topped with an enormous Yorkshire pudding for main course, with a sticky toffee pudding dessert 'to die for'! Great food and service in very traditional country pub surroundings. Will definitely be back.

We had heard really good things about this Gastropub since we last visited some time ago. We decided to visit as a family for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday. Maybe we chose the wrong starters but the Pheasant Goujons were completely tasteless and overbreaded. We all had the topside of beef, and although the beef was perfectly pleasant it... More
