Bad food, no taste at all, horrible wine locally produced, bad service, the woman who cocked the food was standing with a cigaretter while cooking, do not go there

I expected more from this traditional Italian restaurant. Food was average and staff not particularly interested in helping you. I had swordfish for the main which was bland. My wife wanted a brandy post meal and they didn't have any. Fairly simple pricing for the area. Won't be on my return list.

Filetto di baccala!!!! Need I say more? Tropea is filled with such amazing food! Each restaurant is amazing in it's own way. Here is no different. I'm a huge Filetto di baccala, so seeing it on the menu made my day! And was just as delicious as I hoped. I had the carbonara which was the best I've had outside... More

We've been in Tropea for the last 3 weeks, and have eaten at plenty of very good restaurants, this one is awful on all accounts. The "Tropean" salad that is supposed to come with canned tuna, did in fact have tuna on it, but the quantity was so small, you'd swear it was a mistake. The "vino locale" was one... More

I've had fish in this trattoria today, linguine allo scoglio and fritto misto, tropea onions and wine. All food was excellent and the service likewise. The owner was very friendly and offered us some fried fish and local sweet cakes. The location is perfect especially at lunch during hot days as it's in the shade. Beautifully decorated it is the... Unfortunately we did not check TA before having lunch there. Poor food, unenthusiastic service. The white house wine was awful. I returned the nearly full pitcher when I asked for the bill. At least they didn't charge for the wine. The place should either be closed or taken over by someone who cares. Everything else is a waste of time.

Terrible food- I ordered carbonara and it was cooked so badly it was like eating scrambled eggs. It also had rid bits of fish in it which wasn't on the menu and usually wouldn't be a bad thing but the fish peices were absolutely rubber. My husband ordered a seafood pasta which was also overlooked and tasteless. Service also was... More

The saying goes that "you cannot destroy an Italian food". In this trattoria they managed to do the impossible. The antipasti was extremely salty. The pasta was overcooked. Nothing had a taste of a food. How can you do that? It must require a unique talent probably or a prime location where the food quality does not matter and every... More

Where to start! We went here to get out of the rain. The staff were hardly friendly but that's ok. We were seated near the kitchen and the waiters had a small table behind us where they wrote the bills up etc. They smoked behind us constantly including inside the kitchen! The food came out in less than 4 minutes,... More

Wish we'd looked here first. Location good. Appearance good. Looks like they have a decent modern kitchen but either they buy the toughest meat around or they just don't know how to cook it. Pity as it spoilt an otherwise wonderful visit to Tropea.
