On our first night in Sarlat we stopped in Le Bistrot for dinner and it was just the right choice. The atmosphere was small town France and the food was excellent French. Our server was very pleasant and thankfully spoke fluent English, clearly explaining all of our choices. I, as I think is expected in the Dordogne, ordered Duck (breast) on... More

We ate dinner here twice on our recent visit. We willingly took seats outside next to heaters and used the blankets provided. Le Bistrot has a good selection of local wines, including half bottles. The food is solid, and the mashed potatoes are particularly good. If you're in Sarlat off-season and/or on a Sunday or Monday, this a good choice.

Burger was delicious and the beer was welcome. The omelette looked good. Coffees served with a chocolate and service efficient with a smile. Outside seating opposite the cathedral. Watch the world go by.

An affordable bistro, high quality of food and offers a variety of both French cuisine and burgers. My husband had the beef steak with a wonderful mushroom sauce and I had a beautiful salmon. Very pleasant to sit outside viewing the magical scenery of downtown old Sarlat. The place offers heaters and blankets.

We chose the 3-course Lunch Menu. The service was impersonal and very rushed with each course following immediately. My husband had the marinated herring for starter which was overloaded with salt. My duck main dish was quite greasy with soggy reheated sauté potatoes which were luke warm.

We came here for lunch with our family including our young grandson. What lovely service. They welcomed us, brought over a hi-chair and menus very quickly. What was particularly good was the speed that the brougt over our grandson's meal - showed they appreciated the challenge of having lunch with a toddler! The food was great. We had a sarlat... More

Traveling with a small group of friends. The five of us loved our food at Le Bistrot, enjoying some local dishes. Those who had the starters of foie gras, herring, or goat cheese thought they were very tasty. 3 had salmon for the main course, with leek mashed potatoes, 1 had the duck with sarladaise potatoes, which was very good.... We came here mainly because our B&B said they did a good creme brulee, which indeed they did, but we also had really good burgers with home-made frites. I rarely manage to eat an entire burger, but this one disappeared without a trace. Nothing fancy but good food well cooked.

We stumbled onto this restaurant during lunch time. Very busy resulting in extremely slow service. Steak frits and small salad were good along with pistachio /strawberry tiramisu but nothing out of the ordinary. Prices were fair in a very touristy place.
