We had a long weekend in the area and had a nice dinner on Sunday evening in this small family restaurant. The interiors are quite simple, but it will be more than compensated by tasty meals and friendly hostess. Veal was tender and dorada with asparagus was tasty. For a dessert we had different sorbets and these were just stunning.... More

Would like to visit this well-regarded restaurant but have yet to received a response to my letter requesting a reservation. I do not speak French, so a telephone call is a bit of a challenge.

My wife and I decided to disembark our ship and spend some time in Bandol. After touring the markets we decided to have lunch. We walked around a lot and then saw L'esperance. Looked nice from outside and we walked in and sat down. The lady who seated us could speak some English, and we could speak some French, and... More

We were taken to L'esperance for lunch as a treat, and indeed it was. The restaurant is small, just 7 tables and is light and airy. It is run by a husband and wife team, with the husband doing the cooking and the wife running the front of house. The service is excellent, very professional but friendly too. The food... More

This is serious cooking served with great care and attention in a lovely serene room A mise en bouche of a small cup of broad bean soup with tiny bits of chorizo was delicious. Excellent bread and tapenade. Next we had a poitrine of pigeon and a dish of cepes which were intense and excellent This was followed by mains... More

20% too expensive for what it is. Products are fresh and noble but it looks like the Chef has trouble with a few mixes. Need to be improved and it'll be very good. Meat is great, fish average. Small place, need reservation.

L'Esperance is just a small restaurant - just seven tables, I think, and none outside - and they are well spread out so the place feels light and spacious. The food is of a high standard and my lamb, done in a Middle Eastern manner, was tip-top (as was my wife's fish). We went for the €52-per head menu as... More

Last summer we had begun to feel the chef here was losing his touch. But our dinner here in June showed Gilles was back on form. You are lucky to get a glimpse of him as his wife does single handed all the front of house. The @€43 menu gave us a duo of smoked and (I think) sashimi salmon... More

The menu starts at 31 euros and goes to 52 euros. At 32 euros the... More

We used our hotel concierge for this recommendation since this was our first visit to Bandol. We were extremely please with the solection. The staff did not speak English and our French is limited, but that did not prevent us from a wonderful meal. The Wine List was not extensive, but had good selections at all price points. As other...
