This place, hands down, consistently delivers. The only reason it's not 5 is because the authenticity of the food would be ruined by refinement of the dishes and that you arrive in a ski suit. Please eat here every day. The food is tremendous, the bar is a beautiful as it gets, and the owner is a groovy guy. I... More

A table booked pretty late at 2 pm, a glass of an excellent wine from burgundy to wait for precedent guests and then we begin to appreciate the place. The boss and his team are very attentive, and good advisors to select food and wines. By the way the wine selection is great and prices are low for a great... More

We were recommended to stop here for lunch by our ski instructor. Beautiful setting and very pleasant decor. Unlike others we found the Madame to be very welcoming and friendly. Sadly the other staff were not so friendly. The blonde waitress was either English or very good with English but she found it below her to assist in translating the... More

First the bad- Madame could be much more welcoming; if she knows you and you are French then the smile comes out. That aside the staff are friendly, the food is very good and it is one of the best places to stop for lunch on the mountains. The terrace is a great place to stop for lunch whether it's... More

On our one night 'off' at our chalet, we walked the short distance up the hill to le Vieux Chalet for dinner and enjoyed a wonderful meal: top class all over, but especially the barman/sommelier. Excellent!

We called in on our way back to our chalet and had two excellent beers sitting on the outdoor terrace. The service was great and the waitress put the over head heater on which was fabulous.

Had a splendid lunch at the Vieux Chalet for the second time this season. The food is consistently delicious and the service exceptional. The wine-waiter, Bruno, is an expert at the right wine in your price bracket. This by far the best restaurant in the four star category in the Aravis mountains, add to that an almost perfect location, especially when... Had lunch at Let Vieux Chalet today, I agree with previous reviewers comments re "poshness" of owners, rest of clientele also reminded me of the "Made in Chelsea" set, but had excellent food and it is in a great location. Not cheap but great value for the quality of the food etc. Try the steak.
