We were a group of English guys staying in Bamberg for a weekend of beer, sightseeing & more beer. Bamberg is, of course, the centre of the universe for fans of beer & brewing culture. One of our group found Cafe Abseits on the internet & it was possibly the best find of the weekend. I contacted the proprietor prior... More

We were staying at an airbnb place close by and stopped here for breakfast. We had the English breakfast and enjoyed it. Good service with a friendly waiter

In fact apart from me and my three companions - there were none that evening ! This extremely busy backstreet bar is a short walk from the railway station in the opposite direction to the Altstadt and is most certainly worth seeking out. The beer list is superb - both in length and quality - and there are many exotic... More

Abseits does translate as "apart", "secluded" or "remote". Bamberg has a world culture heritage cityscape and so many many toursist visit it - particularly in summer. Most of the central restaurants and guesthouses are crowded and very busy. If you´re willing to walk a while, you will not only see more of the town, and how people live, but you... More

This is my favorite place in Franconia. It is hard to find a place in Germany with so many different styles of beers available, the staff is friendly and the owner is super thoughtful. The food is also very good, the nachos, burgers and even the pasta are really good. The environment is cozy and during the spring and summer,... More

Place out of historical city center. Nice atmosphere, great owner - real beerlover and specialist. Tasty food. Cafe Abseits is mandatory for everyone who loves good beer.

They serve food, yes, but the reason to come here is the fact that the place is superbly atmospheric and full of great beers from close and afar. The service is superbly friendly, joking - even poignantly but still benignly - and accommodating. The food is decent, but that's not what you come here for. A great place to spend... More

It´s a little out of the way, a bit of a trek from the inner city, but not too far from the train station. Excellent beer selection, as someone else mentioned, they are unique in featuring beers brewed with Weyermann malt (from Bamberg). Large menu, includes some Tex-Mex features as well. Daily specials, and a lovely beer garden.

Cafe Abseits is worth going out of your way for the beer -- they often have several interesting ones on tap, and they also often feature beers brewed by the local Weyermann malt factory -- something I've not seen anywhere else. The food selection is better than most places like it, with some interesting options. I bring my family here... More

This place is a bit away from town but well worth a walk. Plenty beer choice, some Belgian beer too. Famous place for students. Gerhard- the landlord great man. He joined us with some beer to sample. He also recommended few places to go. We didnt eat anything there so cant tell anything about this. Highly recommended!
