Lovely place in all aspects! Starting with the sense of creativity and humor -elements of the design; its concept - the name taken from the good old Italian character for a typical German restaurant! Hospitality of waitresses, their friendliness, quick service and very good prepared...meal - impressed me! And thanks to this place I’ve watched the classic “ Little World of Don Camillo”❤️More
..in an old church with some features remaining (.g. Pulpit). Decent food/ drink and service - very busy despite large section isolated for smokers, albeit couldn’t smell it - strange set up in these times.
Good food; big size portions; nice waitress; original ambiance in a former church with Don Camillo preaching over the restaurant. We sat on the balcony, where you have a fine view over the restaurant.
The food was really good and extensive. The prices were above average but worth it. If you want to go there I’ve got 2 tips: 1 be sure to make a reservation for a table inside the church. We didn’t and we weren’t really in...the main building 2. The yoghurt ice cream was really really goodMore
I reserved two days in advance by phone for this fine looking restaurant (based on TripAdvisor reviews) We stayed in Willingen center and started to walk to the restaurant 15 minutes prior to reservation. It was quite a walk for us with two kids; 3...and 6 year olds. We arrived 9 minutes after 18 hours after a 25 minute walk... we expected only 15 minute walk. After entering the restaurant we were told by a very unfriendly and rude staff member that our table was given away. We were 9 minutes late... After asking nicely for clemency the staff member became even more unfriendly and started to lecture us like we were 10 year olds. Finally she said we would sit in a smoking allowed area in the restaurant!! With two young kids! What century are you living in? We left this place immediately. This restaurant should be permanently closed for business and the woman from the bar is beyond everything I ever experienced in decades of restaurant experience. Of course all restaurants were fully booked so we were totally screwed over. Thank you for a worst experience ever. You should be ashamed!More
I know the Germans like their "Imbiss" meals, but Don Camillo is supposed to be a restaurant, actually th equality of food they serve is far below par. They offered a little appetizer, some sort of very old rice dish, already smelling bad. Then no...vegetables were served with the main course. Maybe because it was Sunday night and the cook had a day off, but you should try to please your customersMore
A little bit outside the village but a very nice place to eat, especially for couples or friends. Given the silence not so child friendly unless you have very silent children (like we have 😉). Great food, really delicious but a bit more expensive than...average (not too expensive though). Very friendly waitresses and fast!More
Don Camillo is mentioned as one of the top places in Wllingen. I'm sorry to say, but we had a very disappointing experience in this restaurant. The ambiance is very nice and surprising, but the food we got was mediocre and the service was bad....I had a very plain Cordon Blue and my wife Penne Arrabiata. We had hardly time to have a sip of our wine (Ellerman Spiegel Chardonnay, that tasted as kids wine) when the food was served. The waitress served my wife spaghetti and, after my wife's objection, she said that was the food that was ordered. After complaining to a second waitress we got the right dish, without an apology. The waitress was very amused by naming me, a person in his sixties, 'the young man': I wasn't pleased by that, to say the least. When we learned that the bottle of still water we ordered, costs 7,50 euro, our evening was totally ruined. This is not the way to serve your guests!More
A beautiful location to have a drink or something to eat. I can recommend the fresh waffles with cherries and ice cream ☺
This restaurant is located inside a church and it also has a smoking area in a new building next to it. Make sure to make a reservation if you want to enjoy the rustic feeling of the church. The food is good and there is...a nice selection. There are vegetarian and even vegan options. I would definitely recommend a visit, as the food options in Willingen are rather limited.More
The restaurant is a bit dirty. The service is very quick. We took one schnitzel with fried potatoes, very very salty and full of fried oil, and three pizza margherita very very salty.
The location is wonderful as is the interior being inside an old church. Pretty cool feeling and great for photos. A couple tables available outside. Service is average but nothing special or warm. As far as the food, it is a mix of German and...a bit of Italian. I had to add a slot seasoning to the pasta to make it taste somewhat near I thought it would be, but still was a bit disappointing. the menu is a bit of this and that maybe to please everyone. I think the focus should be on one type of food and perfect that. If they did this, it would match the special building that it is located in.. Mixed bag....mixed feelings....More
The sight of a bar/restaurant inside an old church building was enough to draw us in off the main street. The inside also retains the original church design (in the main part – there is also a nice modern section too) with pews and other...such items used well. This novelty is helped by the generally good atmosphere inside – it was nicely busy, but never noisy. The food was mostly good – the more traditional German dishes being the better ones. Worth noting that although this shares a name with the Italian place up the hill, this one is not an Italian restaurant; also worth saying that, like many places, there is no English menu. It does appear like a bit of a novelty of a place, and while this is part of the appeal, there is plenty in the atmosphere, service and food to recommend.More
As it was in the past a real church the atmosphere there is brilliant and a little bit unique. Good portfolio of drinks and food. It was for us a very good choice to joins some beers in such a "peaceful" area.
